Сегодня пост о первом дне конференции FAB9 с несколькими интересными видео. Но обо всём по порядку..
По-завтракать мы решили в отеле, т.к. вчера особо ничего не искали, а утром оказалось, что все китайские кафешки/забегаловки рядом с нами закрыты (а живем мы в chinatown'e). При регистрации нам дали скидку на завтрак в 30% - с ее учетом стоимость завтрака составила около 1850 йен, что примерно 600 руб. Было вкусно и сытно (шведский стол), но оно того не стоит.
Первая точка назначения - Fab Forum. Здесь началась содержательная программа конференции. После полутора часов докладов представителей фаблабов Северной и Южной Америки и Израиля в ignite-формате (12 слайдов по 15 секунд) нас ждали две интересные лекции. Первая лекция - про оригами (смотреть фотку зайца и видео сборки оригами из железа!). Оказывается, что из одного листа бумаги можно собрать любую 3D-фигуру (origami.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp; erikdemaine.org)! Вторая лекция - про цифровое производство с использованием ДНК (molsys.net). Если использовать специально подготовленные ДНК, то можно из них собирать нанообъекты (см. фотки букв)!
Три часа не прошли даром и все уже порядком засиделись, поэтому организаторы перед обедом решили устроить разминку - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS92XkVKM0Q. Эту разминку должны делать японские офисные работники через определенные промежутки времени. Организаторы знали все движения наизусть и показывали их нам со сцены :)
Обеды входят в программу конференции, причем учитываются предпочтения участников - есть две комнаты для всеядных, комната для мусульман и комната для вегетарианцев.
После обеда, во второй локации (Fab Lounge), я участвовал в workshop'e Sherry Lassiter о Fab Lab Lifecycle. Узнал несколько интересных приемов организации фаблабов в Цюрихе, Израиле, Манчестере. Там же познакомился с коллегами из Aalto.
Надо брать больше визиток :)
Помимо плановых workshop'ов есть т.н. Fab Foo - это мероприятия, организумые участниками и партнерами FAB9.
В рамках одного из них представитель компании Roland DG рассказал как на их оборудовании ровнехонько вырезать из напечатанный на клеящейся бумаге рисунок хитрой формы - поезда прошла не зря! :)
Лирическое отступление: /* Кофе-брейки также организованы на высоте - много вкусняшек, в т.ч. национальных японских. Советую благоразумно пробовать по одной, а не брать сразу несколько ;)
Не покупайте холодный чай в супермаркетах! Можете наткнуться на напиток с весьма специфическим вкусом... Аналогичный совет применим и для Тайланда.
И на тему налички - не надейтесь ее получить в банкомате. Многие банкоматы просто "выплевывают" наши банковские карточки, к примеру, VISA. */
После окончания workshop'a мы встретили в Fab Lounge доехавшую делегацию из России: Иван Бортник (инициатор массового движения фаблабов/ЦМИТов в России), Анна Бухало (помощница Бортника) и Денис Тимирбаев (представитель центра молодежного инновационного творчества из Пензы).
Образовалось немного свободного времени и мы решили заглянуть в Super Fab Lab - он находится в двух шагах от Fab Lounge. Это трехэтажное здание, заполненное оборудованием!
В рамках формата Fab Foo женщина из ShopBot'a рассказывала и показывала как пользоваться их фрезерным станком и как она его любит.
А тем временем за окном полил очень сильный дождь с грозой. Как оказалось, это не надолго. Ливни сильные и проходят довольно быстро, но не хотел бы я попасть под такой будучи на улице - не успел бы и зонтик раскрыть, как сразу бы промок...
Заканчивался день в четвертой локации (Fab Bar) мастер-классом по приготовлению суши!
Нашей интернациональной компанией из России, Японии и Голландии были сотворены мега суши-роллы! Причем некоторые оказались "мега" в прямом смысле слова :)
Окончание дня прошло на крыше здания, где расположен Fab Bar, за поеданием суши, выпиванием сока и общением. Как устроен фаблаб в Сан Пауло, почему в Сеуле один фаблаб закрывается и открывается новый, SkolTech изнутри,...
На завтра запланировано общение с представителями Schlumberger :)
Возвращаясь в отель мы услышали звук, доносившийся со стадиона. Оказалось, что японцы от мала до велика фанаты бейсбола и ходят на него семьями..
И напоследок пара слов про SkolTech. Менеджер образовательной программы Центра предпринимательства и инноваций (иностранец, как и почти весь менеджмент в SkolTech'e) рассказал о том как они живут и работают. Если раньше у меня не было никакого представления о SkolTech'e, то теперь оно есть и положительное. Туда вкладывается много денег, которые идут на сотрудничество/обмен опытом с MIT и на привлечение ведущих иностранных преподавателей. Есть магистратура и PhD. Причем бесплатно! Если бы была возможность - попробовал бы туда поступить :) Советую попробовать себя всем тем, кто считает, что засиделся.

Today is a post about the first day of the FAB9 conference with some interesting videos. But first things first..
We decided to have breakfast at the hotel, because Yesterday we didn’t look for anything much, but in the morning it turned out that all the Chinese cafes / diners near us are closed (and we live in chinatown'e). When registering, we were given a 30% discount on breakfast - taking into account the cost of breakfast, it was about 1,850 yen, which is about 600 rubles. It was tasty and satisfying (buffet), but not worth it.
The first destination is Fab Forum. Here began the substantive program of the conference. After one and a half hours of reports by representatives of the fab labs of North and South America and Israel in the ignite-format (12 slides for 15 seconds), two interesting lectures were waiting for us. The first lecture is about origami (see a photo of a hare and a video assembly of origami from iron!). It turns out that one 3D paper can be assembled from a single sheet of paper (origami.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp; erikdemaine.org)! The second lecture is about digital production using DNA (molsys.net). If you use specially prepared DNA, then you can collect nano-objects from them (see pictures of letters)!
Three hours were not in vain and everyone was already late enough, so the organizers decided to have a warm-up before lunch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS92XkVKM0Q. This warm-up should be done by Japanese office workers at regular intervals. The organizers knew all the movements by heart and showed them to us from the stage :)
Lunches are included in the conference program, and the preferences of the participants are taken into account - there are two rooms for omnivores, a room for Muslims and a room for vegetarians.
After lunch, in the second location (Fab Lounge), I participated in the Sherry Lassiter workshop'e on the Fab Lab Lifecycle. I learned several interesting techniques for organizing fab labs in Zurich, Israel, Manchester. There he met with colleagues from Aalto.
Need to take more business cards :)
In addition to the planned workshops there is a so-called. Fab Foo are events organized by FAB9 members and partners.
Within the framework of one of them, a representative of Roland DG told how to equip their equipment with an artful pattern of cunning form printed on glued paper - it was not for nothing that the trains passed! :)
Lyrical digression: / * Coffee breaks are also organized at a height - there are a lot of goodies, incl. national japanese. I advise you prudently to try one at a time, rather than taking several at once;)
Do not buy cold tea in supermarkets! You can stumble upon a drink with a very specific taste ... Similar advice applies to Thailand.
And on the topic of cash - do not expect it to get at an ATM. Many ATMs simply "spit out" our bank cards, for example, VISA. * /
After the end of the workshop, we met in the Fab Lounge an arriving delegation from Russia: Ivan Bortnik (initiator of the mass movement of fab labs / TsMITov in Russia), Anna Buhalo (Bortnik's assistant) and Denis Timirbayev (representative of the youth innovation center from Penza).
Some free time was formed and we decided to look at the Super Fab Lab - it is two steps away from the Fab Lounge. This is a three-story building filled with equipment!
As part of the Fab Foo format, a woman from ShopBot told and showed how to use their milling machine and how she loves it.
In the meantime, outside it was pouring very heavy rain with a thunderstorm. As it turned out, this is not for long. The showers are strong and pass fairly quickly, but I would not want to get under such being on the street - I would not have had time to open an umbrella, as I would immediately get wet ...
Finished the day in the fourth location (Fab Bar) master class on sushi!
Our international company from Russia, Japan and Holland created mega sushi rolls! And some were "mega" in the literal sense of the word :)
The end of the day was spent on the roof of the building where the Fab Bar is located, eating sushi, drinking juice and socializing. How the fab lab in Sao Paulo works, why in Seoul one fab lab closes and a new one opens, SkolTech from the inside, ...
Communication with representatives of Schlumberger is planned for tomorrow :)
Returning to the hotel we heard a sound coming from the stadium. It turned out that the Japanese are young and old to baseball fans and family go to it ..
And finally, a couple of words about SkolTech. The manager of the educational program of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (a foreigner, like almost all of the management at SkolTech) told about how they live and work. If earlier I had no idea about SkolTech, now it is also positive. A lot of money is invested there that goes into cooperation / exchange of experience with MIT and attracting leading foreign teachers. There is a master's and PhD. And for free! If there was an opportunity, I would try to go there :) I advise you to try yourself to all those who think that they have stayed too long.
