Если в фильме про закат Британской империи, ее грехи и достоинство, цитируется "Улисс" Альфреда Теннисона, то "1917" - иллюстрация стихотворения Редьярда Киплинга "Победители", отрывок из которого произнесенный генералом, стал фактически эпиграфом к фильму.

Continuing the theme of "1917". Sam Mendes, like in "Skyfall", again beat the English poetry classics. If in the film about the sunset of the British Empire, its sins and dignity, Alfred Tennyson's Ulysses is quoted, then 1917 is an illustration of Rudyard Kipling’s poem Winners, an excerpt from which was uttered by the general, was actually an epigraph to the film.
