Люди, закончившие вуз, пишут в резюме, что они закончили ВУЗ. Думают, что «нелицеприятный разговор» — это когда говорятся неприятные вещи. Копирайтеры в рекламе пишут слово «вы» с большой буквы, как будто это признак уважения, а не проблем с языком. Люди живут в «5-ти этажных» домах, а дикторы новостей без запинки сообщают о «пятьсот шестьдесят трёх» пострадавших.
Так давно говорит большинство. Не значит ли это, что так говорить правильно? Язык никому не принадлежит и его нормы определяются обществом, а не советом академиков. Словари констатируют текущую норму, но вряд ли серьёзно влияют на неё.
Вроде, было бы снобизмом считать, что правда принадлежит клубу заучек. С другой стороны, жить в мире победивших «перетрубаций» и «координально» не хотелось бы. Статус носителя тайного знания о правописании слова «5-этажный» меня лично не греет.

Copywriters in advertising write the word “you” with a capital letter, as if this is a sign of respect, and not problems with the language. People live in “5-story” houses, and news broadcasters without hesitation report “five hundred and sixty-three” victims.
