Да чего там, слово «лаконичность» само произошло от названия Лаконии, области вокруг Спарты.
Царь Леонид правил Спартой 10 лет и ничем интересным не отличился. Но потом красиво и стоически погиб в битве с превосходящими в 100 раз силами персов и заслуженно стал легендой и мемом.
Битва проходила вот здесь. 25 веков назад море доходило почти до горных склонов, кое-где проход был не шире 60 шагов. Это была единственная дорога на юг Греции, доступная двухсоттысячной армии Ксеркса. 300 спартанцев и другие греки бились на пятачке под холмом, а когда их окружили, то держали последнюю оборону на месте, где я стою (2-е фото). Thermopylae. The Spartans were not always good at government and efficiency, but they were masters of memes. Spartan education, company brutal brevity (“If”, “Come and take”, “With a shield or on a shield”, “Good, then we will fight in the shade”) are their finds. Why, the word "conciseness" itself came from the name Laconia, the area around Sparta.
Tsar Leonid ruled Sparta for 10 years and did not differ in anything interesting. But then he died beautifully and stoically in the battle with the forces of the Persians superior to 100 times and deservedly became a legend and a meme.

It was the only road to southern Greece that was accessible to the 200,000 army of Xerxes. 300 Spartans and other Greeks fought on a patch under the hill, and when they were surrounded, they held the last defense in the place where I was standing (2nd photo).
