Они под стать своим современницам - древним руинам - валяются в массовом сознании, как будто так и надо. А понять их можно, только зная контекст.
Тот же Цицерон со своим "О времена, о нравы!". Эти слова знают все, а о чём они? О том, что сенаторы, позаботившись о собственной безопасности от Катилины, не позаботились о прекращении его антиобщественной деятельности.
Или Сократ с "Я знаю, что ничего не знаю". Это сказано на фоне сравнения с восточным мудрецом, который считал, что всё знает, и потому остановился в развитии.
Или эта "возлюби ближнего как себя" из Пятикнижия. Я сам её не понимаю, хотя читал главу Ваикра много раз. В стихе 19:18 там написано "Не мсти и не храни злобы на сынов народа твоего, а люби ближнего твоего, как самого себя; Я Йеhова".
Сдаётся мне, что эти три цитаты, кстати, об одном и том же. О том, что мы всегда забываем о том, что важно с точки зрения природы, как только благополучно позаботились о себе. На себя мозгов хватает, а подумать о том, что надо системе, что ты ещё чего-то не знаешь, что есть законы и взаимосвязи, которые от тебя скрыты, - это нееее. И из древности нас предупреждают и подсказывают: остановись и подумай, дал ли ты ближнему, учёл ли ты неучитываемое, а то ведь прилетит!
И прилетает.
Кстати, из цитаты "возлюби" общественное сознание изъяло самое главное - "Я всевышний". Оно как-то само отпадает, потому что звучит как присказка после сотни повторений. А в итоге получается, что мы забыли, что кроме меня и ближнего есть ещё большая система, которая управляет и мной, и ближним, и нашими отношениями...
В общем, полезно иногда дочитывать до конца, и не только страховой полис)))
