На удивление, на Крите сравнительно много музеев. Правда, многие из них вряд ли вызывают большой интерес. Даже топ-2 туристического рейтинга - Исторический музей - по факту пустует. Искусством тут туристов не заинтересуешь :)
Но если вам хочется разбавить жару и пейзажи прохладой и информацией - в Археологически и Исторический музей есть смысл зайти.
В Археологическом все понятно: на хранении все, что нашли в дворцах, поселениях и захоронениях. Самое красивое по больше части из последнего :))) Меня впечатлили тысячелетние фрески, которые реставраторы постарались воссоздать по оставшимся фрагментам. А посещение этого музея для меня закончилось игрой с древностями и дополненной реальностью "бычка направо, амфоры и статуи налево". С бычками я хорошо справляюсь, а вот с керамикой не заладилось - так что видео моего восторга я не покажу ????
Исторический музей очарователен. Он про все понемногу. На первом этаже большой макет города - возле информ.стенда про локацию можно нажать кнопку, и локация высветится на макете. Есть в этом что-то школьно-приятное :) Мозайки, древний календарь и фонтан, колонны и картины, быт и история. Самое атмосферное - оформление зала икон: темнота и точечная подсветка. Даже временная выставка современного абстракциониста напротив не смогла разрушить мистику этого зала. Жемчужина музея - Эль Греко. Но это отдельно :)

Surprisingly, there are relatively many museums in Crete. True, many of them are hardly of great interest. Even the top 2 tourist ratings - the Historical Museum - are in fact empty. You won’t be interested in art here :)
But if you want to dilute the heat and landscapes with coolness and information - it makes sense to go to the Archaeological and Historical Museum.
In the Archaeological, everything is clear: in storage is everything that was found in palaces, settlements and burials. The most beautiful for the most part is from the last :))) I was impressed by the thousand-year-old frescoes that the restorers tried to recreate from the remaining fragments. And the visit to this museum for me ended with a game with antiquities and augmented reality of “bull-calf to the right, amphorae and statues to the left”. I’m doing a good job with the bulls, but I haven’t worked out with ceramics - so I won’t show the video of my delight ????

On the ground floor there is a large city layout - near the information stand about a location, you can press a button and the location will be displayed on the layout. There is something school-like about this :) Mosaic, the ancient calendar and fountain, columns and paintings, life and history. The most atmospheric is the design of the icon room: darkness and spot lighting. On the contrary, even a temporary exhibition of a modern abstractionist could not destroy the mysticism of this hall. The pearl of the museum is El Greco. But this is separate :)
