В этом посте я расскажу продолжение легенды о воздухоплавателях.
Начало в предыдущем посте.
Король Франции Людовик XVI, узнав об изобретении теплового аэростата, потребовал доставить братьев и их шар в Париж. В это время в парижском обществе разразилась ожесточенная дискуссия о полетах. Высказывались различные мнения о том, что у человека на высоте может случиться разрыв сердца, церковь выразила свой протест против полетов. Но, когда в сентябре 1783 г. братья Монгольфье привезли свой шар в Париж, огромная толпа собралась в Версальском саду, чтобы посмотреть на полет. В первый полет решено было отправить животных, чтобы узнать, не умрут ли они мгновенно в высоте. Утка, петух и баран благополучно взлетели над Версальским дворцом и, пролетев около 4 километров, приземлились в полном здравии. Но король запретил полеты людей на шаре в целях их безопасности. Энтузиасты воздухоплавания во главе с братьями Монгольфье долго добивались разрешения летать на шаре. Только в ноябре 1783 г. король разрешил летать на шаре людям. К этому времени братья научились управлять шаром с помощью жаровни с углями. Они подбрасывали в жаровню, укрепленную под горловиной шара, древесные стружки и теплый дым подымал шар вверх. В документах нет данных о том, что сам Людовик XVI совершил воздушную прогулку. Зато имеется красивая легенда о полете короля с братьями Монгольфье. Якобы Людовик XVI был настолько восхищен полетом, что воскликнул: «Господа, все земли, которые вы видите — ваши!». После приземления король тут же дал братьям графский титул, так как только граф мог владеть такими земельными угодьями. После король опомнился, вспомнил, что 'земли эти уже кому-то принадлежат, и нашел остроумный выход. Он добавил к титулу братьев одно слово, и они стали «графами воздухоплавания» и, соответственно, все земли должны принадлежать им только тогда, когда они летят в воздухе.

At this time, a fierce discussion about flights erupted in Parisian society. But, when in September 1783 the Montgolfier brothers brought their ball to Paris, a huge crowd gathered in the Versailles Garden to watch the flight. On the first flight, it was decided to send the animals to find out if they would die instantly in height. The duck, rooster and ram safely took off over the Palace of Versailles and, flying about 4 kilometers, landed in perfect health. But the king forbade flying people on a ball for their safety. Aeronautics enthusiasts, led by the Montgolfier brothers, have long sought permission to fly a balloon. Only in November 1783 the king allowed people to fly on a ball. By this time, the brothers had learned to control the ball using a brazier with coals. They threw wood shavings and warm smoke into the brazier, fortified under the neck of the ball, raising the ball up. There is no evidence in the documents that Louis XVI himself took an air walk. But there is a beautiful legend about the flight of the king with the Montgolfier brothers. Allegedly, Louis XVI was so delighted with the flight that he exclaimed: “Gentlemen, all the lands that you see are yours!” After landing, the king immediately gave the brothers the count's title, since only the count could own such land. After the king came to his senses, he remembered that these lands already belonged to someone, and found a witty way out. He added one word to the brothers' title, and they became “counts of ballooning” and, accordingly, all lands should belong to them only when they fly in the air.
