Британская компания Inmarsat планирует в 2017 году вывести на орбиту спутник связи с помощью российской ракеты-носителя "Протон-М", сообщил провайдер пусковых услуг российских ракет-носителей "Ангара" и "Протон" компания International Launch Services (ILS).
По данным портала spacenews.com, Inmarsat отказалась от вывода на орбиту спутника связи Europasat/Hellas-sat 3 с помощью американской ракеты-носителя Falcon Heavy, разработанной компанией Элона Маска Space X, из-за неоднократного переноса даты первого запуска тяжелой версии ракеты Falcon и связанных с этим опасений о неспособности Space X подготовить ракету к необходимому сроку. Inmarsat стал уже вторым клиентом американской компании, который отказался от вывода на орбиту космического аппарата с помощью ракеты Falcon Heavy.

Контрольный пакет акций в ILS принадлежит российскому Государственному космическому научно–производственному центру имени М.В. Хруничева. ILS имеет эксклюзивное право на маркетинг и коммерческую эксплуатацию российской ракеты–носителя тяжелого класса "Протон", перспективного космического ракетного комплекса "Ангара" и полностью обеспечивает весь цикл пусковых услуг.
