Мартин Макдонах родился в 1970 году в Лондоне. Он из простой ирландской семьи, отец — рабочий-строитель, мать — уборщица.
Первые литературные пробы МакДонаха — пьесы для радио и сценарии были отвергнуты редакторами. Успех пришел в 1997 году. Пьеса «Королева красоты из Линэна» принесла МакДонаху известность и две главные Европейские премии “Evening Standard” и “Tony”. Ныне Мартин Макдонах является штатным драматургом Королевского Национального Театра в Лондоне и обладателем многочисленных наград. Пьесы Макдонаха идут в лучших театрах Европы, критики и пресса пристально следят за его жизнью в искусстве и даже провозглашают великим драматургом нашего времени. Макдонах говорит, что любил кино больше, чем театр, фильмы смотрел в великом множестве, особенно близки ему Линч, Скорсезе, Тарантино. У Макдонаха — филигранные, отточенные до блеска реплики и диалоги. Абсолютное чувство ритма. Неожиданные повороты. Тот, самый безупречно острый юмор, когда шутят без тени улыбки на лице. Макдонаху чужд даже намек на что-либо ханжески запретное, он прям, предельно честен и достоверен, особенно в том, что беспощадная жизнь, так или иначе, превзойдет вымысел. Today, Martin McDonagh is a full-time playwright at the Royal National Theater in London and has won numerous awards. McDonagh's plays are performed in the best theaters in Europe, critics and the press closely monitor his life in art and even proclaim the great playwright of our time. MacDonagh says that he loved cinema more than theater, he watched films in great numbers, Lynch, Scorsese, Tarantino are especially close to him. McDonagh has filigree, polished lines and dialogues. Absolute sense of rhythm. Unexpected turns. That, the most impeccably sharp humor, when joking without a shadow of a smile on his face. McDonagh is alien to even a hint of something sanctimonious forbidden, he is direct, extremely honest and reliable, especially in that merciless life, one way or another, will surpass fiction.
