Уникальный спектакль Казачьего театра поставлен по воспоминаниям детей, проживших в Сталинграде все 200 дней и ночей Великой битвы, выживших вопреки всему, и написавших о том, что невозможно до конца оплакать и нельзя забыть.
Озорные рифмованные строчки Чуковского о «краденом солнце», которые до войны декламировали малыши, превратились в аллегорию реального ужаса 23 августа 1942 года: «Сначала небо стало черным от гитлеровских самолетов, а потом дым горевшего города словно проглотил солнце». Так вспоминают тот роковой день выжившие свидетели варварской бомбардировки. Солнце, украденное войной, полыхающая Волга – это символы невыносимых страданий детей Сталинграда.
Обыденность войны показана трогательным детским языком: смерть мамы, черная пузатая бомба, летящая на беззащитную ватагу ребятишек, мальчишка, собирающий обгоревшее зерно на элеваторе, развалины библиотеки, где припрятана книга Жюля Верна, читая которую можно забыть голод, холод, бомбежки. Эмоции и чувства происходящего обнажены до предела.
Пропустить боль и отчаяние это через себя, прочувствовать – это большой духовный опыт, и зрители проходят через него вместе с артистами.
Несмотря на пронзительный эмоциональный фон, спектакль носит безусловно позитивный оттенок, так как итог и кульминация спектакля — Победа и возвращение к мирной светлой жизни маленького человека.
В спектакле передано то, что восхищает и поныне, – сила духа сталинградцев, которая помогла им выжить в самые тяжелые беспросветные дни и искренняя вера авторов: «война – явление временное, а искусство вечно».

The unique performance of the Cossack Theater is based on the recollections of children who lived in Stalingrad all 200 days and nights of the Great Battle, who survived against all odds, and wrote that it is impossible to mourn and cannot be forgotten.
Chukovsky’s mischievous rhymed lines about the “stolen sun” that the kids recited before the war turned into an allegory of real horror on August 23, 1942: “At first the sky turned black from Hitler’s planes, and then the smoke of the burning city seemed to swallow the sun.” So remember that fateful day surviving witnesses of the barbaric bombing. The sun, stolen by the war, the blazing Volga - these are symbols of the unbearable suffering of the children of Stalingrad.
The everyday life of the war is shown in touching children's language: the death of a mother, a black pot-bellied bomb flying to a defenseless squad of children, a boy collecting burnt grain at an elevator, the ruins of a library where Jules Verne’s book is hidden, reading which you can forget hunger, cold, bombing. The emotions and feelings of what is happening are bare to the limit.
Passing pain and despair through yourself, feeling it is a great spiritual experience, and the audience passes through it together with the artists.
Despite the piercing emotional background, the performance is certainly a positive connotation, since the result and culmination of the performance is Victory and a return to the peaceful, bright life of a small person.
The performance conveys what still fascinates today - the strength of mind of the Stalingraders, which helped them survive in the most difficult hopeless days and the sincere faith of the authors: “war is a temporary phenomenon, and art is eternal.”
