Недавно мне в сети попалась картинка (1), нарисованная для тех, кто считает, что у эстонцев какие-то особенные скорости. Из первого стрипа выясняется, что эстонцы ходят пешком со скоростью 4-5 км/ч (да ладно!), а из последнего — что у них есть свой спутник. И это так. 7 мая 2013 года команда Тартуского университета (это был студенческий проект) запустила на орбиту кубик под названием ESTCube-1 — первый в мире эстонский спутник Земли. Таким образом Эстония пополнила собой список космических держав. Слово "держава", конечно, выглядит немного странно, но "космическая лимитрофная республика" звучит еще страннее, так что оставим как есть. Там был еще один мимими момент, что самый первый сигнал со спутника был получен в городе Рузаевка (респ. Мордовия) неким домашним радиолюбителем Дмитрием Пашкиным, который записал его и отправил в Эстонию по почте, поздравив ученых с успешным запуском.
Спутник, кстати, до сих пор летает, ни в кого не врезался. Правда, уже выдохся, как вроде и предполагалось, но ничего — вроде уже готовят к запуску следующий кубик, так что еще полетаем! В общем, просто знайте, что пока вы пьете утренний чай, Эстония осваивает космос. ;)
Но моя любимая история про освоение космоса относится к периоду Эстонской ССР. Я помню, что в детстве у меня была какая-то энциклопедия из серии "для шибко любопытных детей и обо всем сразу". Там был раздел про космос, в котором больше всего меня, ребенка, заинтересовала еда космонавтов. Оказывается, она была в тюбиках — воображение с удовольствием рисовало в голове полеты пузырей борща и тарелки в невесомости, а также куриных ножек и рисинок по всей кабине космического аппарата, было даже немножко обидно, что еду придумали засовывать в тюбик. Да нет, конечно, не обидно, просто завидно и хотелось попробовать. Так вот эту еду — делали в Эстонии, на заводе в Пылтсамаа. В этом году я даже туда доехала (это маленький городок между Таллином и Тарту), но космическую еду, естественно, уже лет тридцать как не делают. Зато есть музей.
Все началось с того, что в 1962 году пищевой комбинат в Пылтсамаа купил венгерское оборудование, позволявшее запихивать еду в тюбики, и начал выпускать тюбики с мармеладом и конфитюром. Лакомство стало популярным по всему Союзу, форма выпуска была уникальной — больше нигде такого не было в СССР. Поэтому как только возник вопрос о питании на орбите, предложение запихнуть в тюбики еще и супы, кофе и паштет отправили именно сюда. На фото из музея мы видим тюбики с супом харчо, щами зелеными, борщом, рыбным соусом, пюре из птицы (непонятно какой), мясным пюре, паштетом из печенки, пастой из шоколада, кофе, какао и разными соками. Подпись у экспонатов гордо гласит, что это была первая специальная еда для космонавтов в мире. В целом, ее действительно специально разрабатывали и придумывали особые рецепты, так что, может, действительно и так. Нынче на заводе Felix (потомок того комбината) в тюбиках, пожалуй, продают только горчицу.
Итого: тюбики и кубики — главный вклад Эстонии в освоение космоса. Я шутливо так говорю, но вообще-то прикольно же!

There was another mimic moment that the very first signal from the satellite was received in the town of Ruzayevka (Rep. Of Mordovia) by a certain home radio amateur Dmitry Pashkin, who recorded it and sent it to Estonia by mail, congratulating scientists on a successful launch.
The satellite, by the way, is still flying, did not hit anyone. True, it was already exhausted, as it was supposed to be, but nothing - it seems that the next cube is already being prepared for launch, so let's fly! In general, just know that while you are drinking your morning tea, Estonia is developing space. ;)
But my favorite story about space exploration belongs to the period of the Estonian SSR. I remember that in my childhood I had some kind of encyclopedia from the series "for very curious children and about everything at once." There was a section about the cosmos, in which most of me, the child, were interested in the food of astronauts. It turns out that she was in tubes - the imagination gladly drew in her head the flying bubbles of borscht and plates in weightlessness, as well as chicken legs and rice all over the cabin of the spacecraft, it was even a little disappointing that they invented putting food into the tube. No, of course, not a shame, just jealous and wanted to try. So this food was made in Estonia, at the plant in Põltsamaa. This year I even got there (it is a small town between Tallinn and Tartu), but space food, naturally, has not been doing for thirty years. But there is a museum.
It all started with the fact that in 1962 a food factory in Põltsamaa bought Hungarian equipment, which allowed stuffing food into tubes, and began producing tubes with marmalade and jams. Delicacy has become popular throughout the Union, the form of release was unique - nowhere else was this in the USSR. Therefore, as soon as there was a question about nutrition in orbit, the proposal to stuff into the tubes also soups, coffee and pate was sent here. In the photo from the museum we see tubes of soup kharcho, green cabbage soup, borscht, fish sauce, mashed poultry (it is not clear what), meat puree, liver pate, chocolate paste, coffee, cocoa and various juices. The signature of the exhibits proudly states that it was the first special food for astronauts in the world. In general, it was really specially designed and invented special recipes, so maybe it really is. Nowadays, at the Felix plant (a descendant of the plant), in the tubes, perhaps, only mustard is sold.
Total: tubes and cubes - the main contribution of Estonia to space exploration. I jokingly say so, but in general it’s fun!
