Опишу также здесь свои переживания, мысли и аргументы - возможно, они помогут кому-нибудь из моих друзей побороть лень и поехать с нами :)
Почему я не горел желанием ехать?
1) Мне лень.
Выбираться из зоны комфорта - сложно и лениво. Есть много других уютных дел, которыми хочется заняться декабрьскими вечерами. Но лениться - это же стремно и немодно. А стоять на месте в IT - значит деградировать. Поэтому этот придуманный блок отвалился первым.
2) Мне некогда.
В день проведения конференции у моих дочерей отчетный концерт в танцевальной школе. Причем, первый для моей младшей. Но концерт - это час-два. А конференция - два дня. Поэтому я решил пропустить часть конференции, но наверстать недополученное в остальное время. Тем более опыт подсказывает - что на такой конференции важен не сам доклад - а неформальное общение и групповые обсуждения. Итак, постараюсь успеть.
3) 9000 - казалось дороговато.
В самый финансово затратный месяц в году трудно найти бюджет на такие вещи - как конференция. А тут еще и сумма приличная. Но если задуматься, то это недорого за проживание, питание, развлечения, афтепати и возможность пообщаться с докладчиками. Плюс свежий воздух и приятные умные люди вокруг.
В общем, деньги в бюджете компании нашли.
4) Мне казалось, что ничего нового и полезного на конференции я не узнаю.
Основные темы докладов: машинное обучение, искусственный интеллект, AR, VR, Payment Request API, Service Workers, блокчейн, криптовалюты. Модные слова, о которых говорят все. Информации много - она не то что гуглится легко - она сама тебя находит.
На конференции времени мало - глубоких знаний не получишь, а этих ваших overview в интернетах кучи. Так я размышлял.
Тут пришлось идти к организаторам: и я честно спросил, как будут строиться доклады. Мне ответили, что доклады о том, что не нагугливается - об опыте решения конкретных задач и примерах использования технологий. О чужих найденных граблях и набитых шишках всегда полезно узнать, чтобы как минимум не повторить самых очевидных ошибок. Также есть возможность задать интересующий вопрос не отходя от кассы.
Резюмируя: сам еду, коллег везу и вас приглашаю. Весело и полезно проведем время.

Getting out of your comfort zone is difficult and lazy. There are many other cozy things that I want to do in the December evenings. But being lazy is dumb and unfashionable. And standing still in IT means degrading. Therefore, this invented block fell off first.
2) I have no time.
On the day of the conference, my daughters had a reporting concert at a dance school. Moreover, the first for my younger. But the concert is an hour or two. And the conference is two days. Therefore, I decided to skip part of the conference, but to catch up with the rest of the time. Moreover, experience suggests that at such a conference it is not the report itself that matters, but informal communication and group discussions. So, I will try to be in time.
