Теплый и солнечный летний день. Ногам холодно – речка на даче ключевая, и вода остается ледяной даже в самую жару. Мне 9 или 10 лет. Я стою по колено в воде и сосредоточенно шарю руками по дну – там периодически попадаются окаменелости. Возраст известняковых отложений в Московской области – около 300 миллионов лет, в это время на территории Московской области находилось море – неглубокое, довольно теплое (здесь даже росли кораллы!) и кишащее жизнью. Овраги, карьеры и русла рек вскрывают отложения известняка каменноугольного периода палеозойской эры и юрского периода мезозойской эры, поэтому в них часто можно найти окаменелые раковины и останки морских организмов – кораллов, аммонитов, белемнитов и брахиоподов.
Кажется, именно тогда я осознала, чем хочу заниматься в жизни ????
Интерес к палеонтологии пару лет назад привел меня в национальный парк Petrified Forest («Окаменелый лес») в Аризоне. Это одно из самых незабываемых впечатлений от поездки по юго-западу США) Petrified Forest известен своими окаменелостями, в основном деревьев, росших на Земле около 225 миллионов лет назад. В то время регион, где теперь находится парк, располагался недалеко от экватора, в юго-западной части суперконтинента Пангеи. И здесь, на месте пустынь Аризоны, были субтропики. Упавшие деревья периодически оказывались под слоем осадочных пород, что способствовало процессам замещения древесины диоксидом кремния. Именно так образовались эти потрясающие разноцветные каменные деревья. Там же найдены и многочисленные окаменелости ранних динозавров и других животных.

Warm and sunny summer day. It’s cold to your feet - the river in the country is key, and the water remains icy even in the heat. I am 9 or 10 years old. I stand knee-deep in the water and concentratedly shoving my hands along the bottom - there periodically come across fossils. The age of limestone deposits in the Moscow Region is about 300 million years, at that time the sea was located on the territory of the Moscow Region - not deep, quite warm (even corals grew here!) And was teeming with life. Gullies, quarries and riverbeds reveal limestone deposits of the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic era and the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era, therefore, in them you can often find fossilized shells and the remains of marine organisms - corals, ammonites, belemnites and brachiopods.
It seems that it was then that I realized what I want to do in life ????
An interest in paleontology a couple of years ago led me to the Petrified Forest National Park ("Petrified Forest") in Arizona. This is one of the most unforgettable experiences of traveling in the southwestern United States) Petrified Forest is known for its fossils, mostly trees that grew on Earth about 225 million years ago. At that time, the region where the park is now located was located near the equator, in the southwestern part of the Pangea supercontinent. And here, on the site of the Arizona deserts, there were subtropics. Fallen trees periodically appeared under a layer of sedimentary rocks, which contributed to the processes of replacing wood with silicon dioxide. That is how these stunning multi-colored stone trees were formed. Numerous fossils of early dinosaurs and other animals were also found there.
