История такова. В 1989-м году Луис Карпентер нашёл на улице одного из чехословацких городов скульптуру Ленина. Хотел её сразу, как честный пионер, сдать на металлолом, пока не прочёл фамилию скульптора. У подножия было выгравировано "Эмиль Венков". Это было совсем другое дело! Работы Венкова стоили сотни тысяч долларов!
Пока скульптура плыла в США, помер Карпентер. И стала скульптура бесхозной. В центре мирового капитализма стояла фигура вождя мирового пролетариата и в этом был явный когнитивный диссонанс. Но местные художники и дизайнеры отнеслись к памятнику с должным юмором. Теперь у подножия красуется табличка, что это вообще не Ленин, а кусечка-кукусечка)))
Скульптуру можно купить. Она стоит всего 300.000 долларов.

I wanted her immediately, as an honest pioneer, to pass on scrap metal until I read the name of the sculptor. At the foot was "Emil Venkov" engraved. It was a completely different thing! Works Venkova cost hundreds of thousands of dollars!
While the sculpture was floating in the USA, Carpenter died. And the sculpture became ownerless. At the center of world capitalism was the figure of the leader of the world proletariat, and this was a clear cognitive dissonance. But local artists and designers reacted to the monument with due humor. Now at the foot there is a sign that it’s not Lenin at all, but a piece of bread)))
