ВЕЛИКИЙ фильм о СИБИРИ! Александр Федоров:
За пять часов экранного времени перед нами проходит жизнь нескольких поколений двух сибирских семей - Устюжаниных и Соломиных - от начала до 60-х годов ХХ века. Такое сюжетное построение не телевизионного фильма, всегда таит опасность стать утомительным для зрителей, привыкших, что кинематографу присуще динамичное действие. Однако "сибириада" смотрится с неослабевающим вниманием - и это результат не только режиссерской и операторской работы , но и великолепной актерской игры. Например, возрастную роль Алексея Устюжанинова играют три разных актера, но у них ощутима общность характера - неукротимого, отчаянного, отдающегося до конца своему делу. Эти черты общие для всего рода Устюжаниных, в котором, как в зеркале, отразилась драматическая судьба российского народа. В жизнь затерянной в необъятных сибирских лесах и болотах Елани неумолимо вторгается история. В хроникальных монтажных врезках взрывается музыкальный лейтмотив Эдуарда Артемьева , как бы вобравший в себя рев заводских гудков, скрежет металла, шипение огненной лавы, шум дождя и ветра перемен...а рядом , как символ нетленности бытия и памяти, возникает связующее звено "Сибириады" - вечный дед. С этим героем - загадочным и мудрым - связана еще одна особенность фильма : мистические вещи могут органично вторгаться в реалии сюжета.
В "Сибириаде" события происходят по условным законам искусства, ведь не зря авторы назвали ее поэмой. У каждого героя фильма есть своя правда, и каждый из них готов отстаивать ее до конца. И когда неукротимая стихия, пылающей долгожданной нефти, переливаясь, бушует огромным факелом, звучит реквием трагической и памятной для всех нас эпохе.

For five hours of screen time, before us is the life of several generations of two Siberian families - the Ustyuzhanins and Solomins - from the beginning to the 60s of the 20th century. Such a plot construction of a non-television film always carries the danger of becoming tiring for viewers who are accustomed to the fact that cinema has a dynamic effect. However, "Siberia" looks with unflagging attention - and this is the result of not only directorial and cameraman work, but also a great acting. For example, three different actors play the age role of Alexei Ustyuzhaninov, but they have a tangible commonality of character - indomitable, desperate, devoted to the end to his work. These features are common to the entire Ustyuzhanin family, in which, as in a mirror, the dramatic fate of the Russian people is reflected. In life lost in the immense Siberian forests and swamps of Elani history inexorably intrudes. Eduard Artyomyev’s musical leitmotif explodes in the chronicle editing frames, as if incorporating the roar of factory beeps, the rattle of metal, the hiss of fiery lava, the noise of rain and wind of changes ... and nearby, as a symbol of the imperishability of being and memory, a connecting link of Sibiriada appears - the eternal grandfather. Another feature of the film is associated with this hero - mysterious and wise: mystical things can organically invade the plot realities.

Each character of the film has its own truth, and each of them is ready to defend it to the end. And when the indomitable element of flaming long-awaited oil, overflowing, rages with a huge torch, it sounds a requiem of a tragic and memorable era for all of us.
