"Но я хочу сказать тебе о другом: есть еще какая-то тишина... Тишина, которая возникает во мне, в тебе, в нас, когда не слышишь шума, сидишь, думаешь, погружаешься в себя — это внутренняя тишина, она не связана с шумом на улице, она в самом себе. Только очень редкие, очень развитые люди способны организовать такую свою тишину. Но для этого тоже надо сначала научиться слышать, видеть тишину, чувствовать.
Тишина — это какое-то особое состояние мира и человеческой души. Мне кажется, мы себя чувствуем частичкой природы, каплей океана в тишине, и только. Вне тишины нельзя понять красоту.
Когда выйдешь в поле и ветер треплет колосья пшеницы, кажется, мир погрузился в тишину, все иные звуки пропали, а эта песнь ветра специально ласкает ухо, чтобы ты оглянулся и понял, какая кругом тишина. Или в лесу перелетит птичка с дерева на дерево, хрустнет лист под ногой, и ты слышишь, как тихо, как торжественно спокоен лес. И морская волна бьется мерно так, с музыкальным счетом, о берег, чтобы слышал человек тишину... Много удивительного придумала природа, чтобы помочь нам услышать и полюбить тишину. А когда одинокий лыжник пересекает снежное поле, какая кругом стоит тишина. Одетая снегом земля наша так красива, только руками разведешь...
Тишина — это жизнь, все великое совершается в тишине. Тишина — это уважение людей друг к другу, это нежность и любовь. Как я люблю дома, где говорят тихо, даже дети не кричат без причины.
Сохранить тишину, покой в своем доме — значит установить в нем климат уважения. А сохранить тишину на всей Земле, на всей планете — это тоже значит установить климат уважения, обязательный для всех народов и стран. Поэтому люди против грохота, пожаров и разрушений. Никто не хочет жить на вулкане, ни один человек. Но если Землю утыкать ракетами, если люди начнут размахивать кулаками, может случиться большая беда, страшная и непоправимая.
Как видишь, проблемы глобальные какими-то чудесными нитями связаны с конкретным человеческим чувством. Бродил сейчас по набережной и думал: был бы Андрей со мной, спустились бы мы к воде, сели рядом и так помолчали бы вместе. Днепр нежно так, бесшумно катил бы свои воды, на другом берегу редкими огоньками подмигивал бы нам уснувший город, а мы сидели бы молча и думали бы о чем-то важном... Хорошо! Правда ведь, хорошо?

The silence that arises in me, in you, in us, when you don’t hear the noise, you sit, you think, you plunge into yourself - this is inner silence, it is not associated with the noise on the street, it is in itself. Only very rare, very developed people are able to organize such a silence. But for this, too, you must first learn to hear, see silence, feel.

Or in the forest a bird will fly from tree to tree, a sheet will crunch under your foot, and you will hear how quietly, how solemnly the forest is calm. And the sea wave beats in a measured manner, with a musical score, on the shore, so that a person can hear silence ... Nature has come up with a lot of amazing things to help us hear and love silence. And when a lone skier crosses a snowfield, there is silence all around. The land clothed in snow is so beautiful, only you can scout it with your hands ...

But if the Earth is stuck with rockets, if people start to swing their fists, a big trouble can happen, terrible and irreparable.
As you can see, global problems are connected with a specific human feeling by some wonderful threads. I was wandering along the embankment now and I thought: would Andrei be with me, we would go down to the water, sit next to each other and so be silent together. The Dnieper would gently, silently roll its waters, on the other side with a faint glow would wink at us a sleeping city, and we would sit silently and think about something important ... Well! Really, okay?
