Съездила в Финляндию на один день по многократной визе. И то, и другое (и однодневная поездка, и повторный въезд по той же визе) для меня впервые.

К сожалению, день для экскурсии был выбран не самый удачный. Суббота. С утра на русско-финской границе в обе стороны стояла очешуительная очередь, и в общей сложности прохождение границы заняло 4 часа. Из-за этого на прогулку в парке осталось всего 1,5 часа. Обидно - с 7 до 16 находиться в дороге, чтоб погулять 1,5 часа.
Однако погода была солнечная и свежая, Финляндия чистая и опрятная, а рододендроны в парке чудесно благоухали.
Наконец, я со всей ясностью поняла разницу в пейзаже между Финляндией и Россией. В Финляндии нету леса. Ну, то есть он там, конечно, есть, но...
Когда-то давно, когда я играла в "Цивилизацию" Сида Мейера, я одно время повадилась по достижении благоденствия "наводить порядок" на своих планетах: мне на нравилось, что на них есть джунгли, болота, пустыни и прочие неудобные для жизни места, и я отправляла полчища сетлеров превращать всё это в равнины и леса. В конце концов у меня получались повсеместно окультуренные пейзажи. А потом до меня дошло, какой ужасный вред я наношу биоразнообразию своих миров...
Так вот, Финляндия выглядит так, будто по ней прошлась армия сетлеров. Там есть только поля и сосновые делянки. Их даже лесом не назвать, потому что они крайне обеднены видовым и возрастным разнообразием растений. Стоят просто ряды длинных и тоненьких, одинаковых по размеру сосен, под ними однородно зеленая "лесная" подстилка. Всего два яруса растений; солнце просвечивает это... какбэ это сказать... формирование насквозь; просматривается оно на сотни метров. Очевидно, это просто посадка под лесозаготовку.
А настоящий лес - это когда растения стоят стеной. Это когда за ними можно спрятаться, отойдя метров на 10. Это когда объем сообщества занят листвой настолько плотно, что до земли не доходит прямой солнечный свет: он весь усваивается растениями. И, конечно же, когда видов растений много, так что на любую свободную "дырку" найдется подходящая ей по форме и размеру зелень, которая ее займет. Когда мы въехали в Россию, один только верхний ярус леса сразу пополнился елками и березами, причем елки - не вшивенький подрост какой-нибудь, а старые, вековые деревья с иссушенными нижними ветками. Нижний ярус поначалу может показаться более куцым, чем в Финляндии, пока не поймешь, что просто здесь вместо газона пошло дикое разнотравье, и видов растений на самом деле в нем больше, а кроме травы еще черничники, брусничники, мхи, лишайники, вереск, папоротник, и всё это растет таким "лоскутным покрывалом".
А всё пространство между верхним и нижним лесным ярусом нашпиговано промежуточными формами растений - низкорослыми деревьями, кустарниками.
Потом вдруг лес расступился и появилось болото. И я поняла, что болот в Финляндии тоже нету. Куда они там делись? Неужели их всех раскопали на торф? Или под пашни?
Словом, природа в Финляндии выглядит более опрятно, но - убито. То есть это уже не природа, а парк.

At first, the lower tier may seem shorter than in Finland, until you realize that it was here that wild forbs went instead of lawn, and there are actually more plant species in it, and besides the grass there are blueberries, cowberries, mosses, lichens, heather, ferns , and it all grows so "patchwork veil".
And the whole space between the upper and lower forest tier is stuffed with intermediate plant forms - low growing trees and shrubs.
Then suddenly the forest parted and a marsh appeared. And I realized that there are no swamps in Finland either. Where are they going there? Have they all been excavated on peat? Or under arable land?
