Чуждо ли русским милосердное отношение к врагу? Да, чуждо. Различайте врага и противника. Противника не добиваем, это и имеется в виду, когда говорится «До первой крови», «Лежачего не бьют». Но не врага. Нужно приложить много усилий, чтобы стать для русских осознанным врагом: запрягаем долго.

И еще одна характеристика русского боя, пришедшая из глубины веков и ставшая архетипом русского воина — неприятеля следует добить:

Из современного можно вспомнить слова о русском народе «Он их рейхами валит в могилы» из песни «Брестские крепости» группы Моторроллер:
