Ночью или поздним вечером особая атмосфера: золотой свет, обрывистые и эмоциональные реплики из окон, эхо закрывающихся ставень, которое заплутало как и я в лабиринтах старого города.

All these streets of the old city, despite their age, smell fresh. The reason is simple - the Italians, as you know, hang out all the clothes to dry on the street, and these streets are so small that the smell of fresh linen hardly leaves them.
