По словам собеседников издания, после внедрения eSim исчезнет необходимость открывать салоны связи и продавать физические аналоги. По их мнению, это приведёт к конкуренции со стороны виртуальных мобильных операторов и «снизит барьеры» для компаний вроде Apple и Google, которые «смогут предложить услуги сотовой связи по ценам значительно ниже рыночных»."
