28 сентября ходили в БДТ на вечер, посвященный столетию Георгия Александровича Товстоногова. В фойе установили бюст Товстоногова, изящный человек с умным лицом, мало похожий на Георгия Александровича. Блистательная публика, узнаваемые лица, артисты и деятели театра, политики, каждое второе лицо вызывало попытку мучительного узнавания, чаще всего неудачную… Среди публики Челингаров, Цискаридзе, Джулиано ди Капуа, прекрасно выглядящий Татосов с искрящимися глазами. Приятно было встретить Варвару Владимирову, Ивана Шарко, Бориса Павловича.
Вечер начался с неизбежной официальной части, открыл Андрей Могучий, прочитал чудесное поздравление от Олега Табакова, дежурные поздравления от президента, зачитанное полпредом, поздравление от губернатора, вызвавшее в зале некоторое оживление и неудобство. Губернатор явно не очень понимал, зачем он здесь, сказал, что Товстоногов работал вместе с заслуженным артистом СССР Лавровым и что он, Полтавченко, помнит, что стоял в очереди за билетами. Надо отметить, что Валентине Ивановне, вышедшей на сцену под руку с Георгием Штилем, удалось напомнить сидящим в зале, что город знавал и лучшие времена.
Вечер был прекрасно оформлен, декорации в виде афишных тумб, на которых показывали фрагменты спектаклей, выступлений и все время по коридорам театра проходил Георгий Александрович, живой участник действия, присутствовавший в зале и снисходительно и с иронией взирающий на своих постаревших учеников и друзей, признававшихся ему в любви и почтении. Прекрасный состав выступавших (см. програмку). Особое впечатление произвел монолог Валерия Ивченко о последнем дне жизни Товстоногова, очень зримо, мороз по коже, Ивченко гениальный актер и глубокий человек. Очаровательный Стоянов, написавший по случаю остроумную песню, Генриетта Яновская, жестко указавшая официальным поздравлянтам, называвшим Товстоногова выдающимся режиссёром, что выдающихся много, а Товстоногов один, гениальный и неповторимый, молодец Яновская, хорошо и остроумно выступал Рудольф Фурманов, высмеявших модное и далеко не всегда уместное осовременивание классики. Роберт Стуруа, легенда! Великие Алиса Фрейндлих, Олег Басилашвили и Сергей Юрский, дай Бог им здоровья и долгих лет….
