I do not advocate the introduction of such articles of the criminal (?) Code, especially if they will be applied to physical. individuals (such as, for example, 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Rehabilitation of Nazism"). We'll see.

But the fact of recognition of the crime of the Soviet regime is a very correct step. It is a pity that in Russia they did not dare to do this at the beginning of the 90s. If this were done, then the power in the country might not have been seized by the KGBeshnik, the government would not consist of 90% of the former party members, there would not be this foolish nostalgia for the Soviet past and no one would eager to step on this rake again. Fans of ice cream for 20 kopeks recommend reading something soothing, like this: http://www.voxpopuli.kz/history/354-vremya-lyudoedov.html

If Russia ever finds a normal government that will take care of the future and not restore the past, I very much hope that recognizing the Soviet regime as criminal will be one of the first steps. I really want to believe in it.

Still, of course, it would be very right to publicly repent for the sins of the USSR (Russia is still the legal successor), including for an aggressive foreign policy. I don’t think that some countries need it very much, although it will definitely have a positive effect on relations with the Baltic States. But it is very necessary for the Russians themselves. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen.

It is especially joyful that Ukrainians will open the archives of the KGB. It is very good. In Russia, the archives were also first opened, but then they changed their minds and a significant part of them were again classified. Fortunately, Vladimir Bukovsky managed to digitize some important documents (see "Bukovsky's archive", http://www.bukovsky-archives.net/buk-rus.html).
