Поэтому на заре освоения космоса необходимо было задать «верх» и «низ» в солнечной системе, требовалось это и для отрисовки интерфейсов, и для построения 3D проекций, и для пилотирования. Прежде всего гражданского пилотирования космических аппаратов, военные из пилотов подобную дурь вытрясают в течение всего срока обучения, т.к. потеря времени и топлива на постоянные довороты к плоскости для них это потеря преимущества перед противником.
Понятно, что у австралийцев не было шанса, верх был задан из северного полушария Земли, перпендикуляром от плоскости земной орбиты. Так как Земля вращается под углом примерно 23,44, условный «верх» в космосе условно обозначили «66,6» (округлив от 66,56). Надо ли объяснять какой резонанс это вызвало среди пилотов. Космонавт это что–то среднее между подводником и летчиком, поэтому суеверия для них возводятся в квадрат. А постоянно видеть на интерфейсах и озвучивать в эфире число зверя никому не хотелось. Нужно было заменить обозначение на что–то альтернативное. Выход предложили русские. Помимо всего прочего 66,6 это земная параллель, через которую проходит тот самый «перпендикуляр», она же «полярный круг». Единственным примечательным объектом на всей параллели (ну почти на ней, будем честны) является город Салехард, построенный еще во времена СССР. В итоге, все заинтересованные ведомства разных стран практически единогласно согласились задать для верха космоса условное обозначение «Салехард» лишь бы, не три шестерки.
С тех пор и до данного момента в радиоэфире можно слышать диалог между диспетчером и пилотом перед стыковкой с космической станцией

Поэтому в одной из серий первого сезона в диалоге один из главных героев произносит «Салехард» и даже объясняет значение термина, что мол это условный верх для данной звездной системы. Но при этом в сериале никто не стал ломать язык русской транскрипцией и в актерских текстах условный термин был прописан как «sale hard». Из–за успеха сериала термин вошел в молодежный сленг, после чего в принципе прижился в американском английском в виде «to lose sale hard» — терять ориентацию, жизненные ориентиры, сбиться с пути.
