Один из последних всенародных избранных мэров в России и последний независимый от "Единой России" мэр крупного города Евгений Ройзман сегодня подал в отставку. Подал, чтобы не участвовать в изменениях Устава Екатеринбурга, отменяющих прямые выборы мэра. Городская дума Екатеринбурга должна была внести соответствующие изменения, так как ранее на уровне области был принят закон, отменяющий выборы мэра. Своим решением Ройзман не только продемонстрировал принципиальность и последовательность, но и заблокировал принятие самих поправок. Ведь после отставки главы города городская дума обязана назначить досрочные выборы согласно действующему Уставу. А поправки, отменяющие выборы, еще не внесены и не вступили в силу. Вот так всенародно избранный мэр до самого своего последнего решения защищает право горожан избирать власть в своем городе.

This is how the popularly elected mayor, until his very last decision, defends the right of citizens to elect power in their city.
