Вчера мы были во Вроцлаве и там мне очень понравилось. Милый, уютный и аккуратный город. И особенно примечателен он своими гномиками. Гномики там везде. Они пытаются стащить гранитный шарик со старой площади, зажигают газовый фонарь на острове епископа, тушат пожары и охраняют входы в гномское подполье.
Гномики - это, пожалуй, главная туристическая достопримечательность Вроцлава, и одна из причин, по которой люди сюда приезжают. Я хотел бы немножко рассказать об истории этих гномиков.
Перенесемся в восьмидесятые годы. Советский Союз вяло трещит по швам и не может больше искусственно поддерживать относительно высокий уровень жизни в Польше за счет субсидий из бюджета. В Польше растет недовольство, cвободный профсоюз "Солидарность" запрещают и он уходит в подполье откуда продолжает активную борьбу. Тучи сгущаются, люди звереют, идут забастовки и на фоне этого во Вроцлаве появляется молодежная контр-культурная группа под названием "Оранжевая Альтернатива". Странная организация, которая как будто издевается над советской польской властью. Глядите сами:
Они не выдвинули никаких политических требований. Они не вступают в прямую конфронтацию властью. Они просто, как сейчас любят говорить, ловят лулзы и издеваются над милицией, рисуя гномиков на стенках Вроцлава и проводя странные и смешные акции типа бесплатной раздачи туалетной бумаги гражданам в период ее острого дефицита или листовок с требованием "признать милиционера произведением искусства".:
Самой яркой страницей этой группы стала так называемая "Демонстрация гномов" 1 июня 1987 года. Накануне акции, члены группы разместили на стенах домов во Вроцлаве призыв в назначенный день прийти на центральную площадь в костюме гнома или хотя бы в оранжевой гномьей шапочке. В назначенный час пришло довольно много людей. Они веселились, раздавали детям конфетки и пели веселые песни, а милиция некоторое время оторопело за этим наблюдала, но потом одумалось и через микрофон потребовала немедленно разойтись участников несогласованного митинга. Затем милицейское руководство отдало приказ сотрудникам вязать негодных гномов. Тут и начался реальный "хэппенинг": на приказ откликнулись не только милиционеры, но и дружинники - «гномы», заблаговременно вступившие в добровольный резерв гражданской милиции ORMO (Ochotnicza Rezerwa Milicji Obywatelskiej). Получив приказ, они немедленно накинули повязки дружинников и стали хватать друг друга и тащить к автозакам. Место в автозаках не хватило и вокруг них стали скапливаться "гномы", крепко державшиеся друг за друга и требовавшие немедленно пустить их внутрь фургонов и прекратить безобразие.
По слухам, особый успех имели допросы "гномов" в отделениях: „Почему вы приняли участие в незаконном митинге гномов?“.
В годовщину акции 1 июня 1988 года произошло шествие "Революция гномов". В нем приняло участие около 15000 человек, что по тем временам, да и для маленького Вроцлова было оглушительным успехом.
А еще через 13 лет власти Вроцлава решили увековечить эти истории расставив маленьких бронзовых гномиков по всему города.
Мне кажется, что такие акции и такие движения не менее, а то и более важны в борьбе с забронзовевшей и охреневшей от натужного патриотического пафоса властью, чем традиционные митинги оппозиции. Одно из самых эффективных оружий против зла - это юмор. Зло ненавидит, когда над ним потешаются.
В России сегодня подобным занимается движение "Монстрация" с 2004 года проводящаяся во многих городах. Пару дней назад она прошла в Симферополе и, судя по видео, имела оглушительный успех.

Yesterday we were in Wroclaw and I really liked it there. Nice, cozy and neat city. And it is especially remarkable for its dwarfs. Gnomes are everywhere there. They are trying to steal a granite ball from the old square, light a gas lamp on the bishop’s island, extinguish fires and guard the entrances to the gnome underground.
Gnomes are perhaps the main tourist attraction of Wroclaw, and one of the reasons why people come here. I would like to tell a little about the history of these gnomes.
Fast forward to the eighties. The Soviet Union sluggishly cracks at the seams and can no longer artificially maintain a relatively high standard of living in Poland at the expense of budget subsidies. In Poland, discontent grows, the free trade union Solidarity is banned and it goes underground, from where it continues its active struggle. The clouds are gathering, people are becoming bestial, there are strikes, and against this background, a youth counter-cultural group called the "Orange Alternative" appears in Wroclaw. A strange organization that seems to mock the Soviet Polish authorities. See for yourself:
They did not make any political demands. They do not enter into direct confrontation with power. They simply, as they like to say now, catch Lulz and mock the police, drawing gnomes on the walls of Wroclaw and holding strange and funny actions like giving free toilet paper to citizens during the acute shortage or leaflets demanding “to recognize the policeman as a work of art” .:
The most striking page of this group was the so-called "Dwarf Demonstration" on June 1, 1987. On the eve of the rally, members of the group placed a call on the appointed day to come to the central square in a gnome costume or at least in an orange dwarf cap on the walls of houses in Wroclaw. Quite a lot of people came at the appointed hour. They had fun, handed out sweets to children and sang funny songs, and the police watched for some time, but then changed their minds and demanded that the participants of the uncoordinated rally immediately disperse. Then the police management gave the order to the staff to knit the worthless gnomes. Here the real “happening” began: not only the militiamen responded to the order, but also the warriors - the “dwarfs”, who had joined the ORMO (Ochotnicza Rezerwa Milicji Obywatelskiej) civilian police advance reserve in advance. Having received the order, they immediately threw in the bandages of the warriors and began grabbing each other and dragging them to the army tank vans. The place in the paddy wagons was not enough and "gnomes" began to accumulate around them, holding tightly to each other and demanding to immediately let them inside the wagons and stop the disgrace.
According to rumors, interrogations of “dwarfs” in the departments had special success: “Why did you take part in the illegal meeting of the dwarves?”.
On the anniversary of the action on June 1, 1988, a march "Revolution of the Dwarfs" took place. About 15,000 people took part in it, which for those times, and for little Wroclaw, was a resounding success.
And after 13 years, the authorities of Wroclaw decided to perpetuate these stories by placing small bronze gnomes throughout the city.
It seems to me that such actions and such movements are no less, if not more important in the fight against the government, which has become bronzed and protected from strained patriotic pathos, than traditional opposition rallies. One of the most effective weapons against evil is humor. Evil hates being ridiculed.
