Мы тут на прошлых выходных покатались вокруг Ладоги на машине и вот что я имею вам сказать:
1. Дороги в целом хорошие, местами прямо шикарные, но есть очень неприятный кусок после Приозерска, километров 8 совсем разбиты.
2. В самом Приозерске стоят упоминания только крепость Корела с воротами, обитыми кирасами шведов (наглядная демонстрация наших побед в Северной войне) и кафе "Точка и линия на плоскости" (да-да, там интерьеры в стиле Кандинского). По дороге еще стоит остановиться и посмотреть на Вуоксу в Саперном. Я нигде больше не видел такой бурной реки.
3. В Лахдепохье смотреть не на что, кроме развалин гигантской финской кирхи (паспортная вместимость - 3 000 человек. В поселке на 10 тысяч, ага). Рядом есть кирха поменьше и в лучшей сохранности, но мы туда не заехали.
4. Сортавала прекрасна и удивительна. Тут и северный модерн, и конструктивизм, и самобытное здание Православной миссии в Финляндии, и громадная сцена в старом парке, где раньше проходили всефинляндские певческие конкурсы, и очень милый залив в центре города. В общем, настоятельно рекомендую.
5. Но совершенно обязательное к посещению место - это Рускеала. При отступлении финны затопили там мраморный карьер, в котором добывался камень для половины дворцов и храмов Санкт-Петербурга. И сейчас это фантастической красоты озеро в мраморных берегах. Вокруг идет обустроенная тропа, катают на троллее и дают прыгать в карьер на веревке. А еще там на задворках руины известково-мраморного завода, атмосфера в духе Half-Life и Сталкера. Неподалеку каскад водопадов на Тохмайоки и место, которое было обозначено у нас как "развалины финской ГЭС". На деле же там оказалась новенькая российская ГЭС Рюмякоски. Небольшая техническая справка:
"Мощность ГЭС — 0,63 МВт, среднегодовая выработка — 2,5 млн.кВт.ч., в здании ГЭС установлен один вертикальный гидроагрегат с поворотно-лопастной турбиной производства чешской фирмы «Strojierny Brno a.s.». Станция работает в полностью автоматическом режиме, управляется с ГЭС «Ляскеля»."
6. На восточном берегу Ладоги нас порадовал Олонец, там интересный музей карелов-ливвиков и живописная церковь на острове, куда ведут 3 моста. А еще там вкуснейший хлеб, калитки с картошкой и пшеном, ватрушки весом в полкило (я серьезно!) и отличные молочные продукты.
7. В конце маршрута нас ждал любопытный монастырь Александра Свирского. С его нетленными мощами приключилась детективная история, но я ее потом расскажу. А пока посмотрите какие там фрески!
8. И в завершение упомяну кафе вепсской кухни "Фермер". Ты не ожидаешь многого от кафе на трассе, а в итоге получаешь прекрасную еду и интересные культурные впечатления.
Конечно, по дороге было много других приключений - и тропический ливень, и улетевшая в кювет встречная машина, и развалины завода медоборудования - всё, за что я люблю автопутешествия.

Last weekend we drove around Ladoga in a car and here’s what I have to tell you:
1. The roads are generally good, sometimes gorgeous in places, but there is a very unpleasant piece after Priozersk, about 8 kilometers are completely broken.
2. In Priozersk, only the Korela fortress with gates upholstered by the Swedes cuirasses (a visual demonstration of our victories in the Northern War) and the Point and Line on the Plane cafe (yes, there are interiors in the Kandinsky style) are mentioned. On the way, it is still worth stopping and looking at Vuoksa in Saperny. I have never seen such a stormy river anywhere.
3. There is nothing to look at in Lahdepohja except the ruins of a giant Finnish church (passport capacity is 3,000 people. In the village there are 10,000, yeah). Nearby there is a smaller church and in better preservation, but we did not stop there.
4. Sortavala is beautiful and amazing. There is northern modernism, constructivism, and the original building of the Orthodox mission in Finland, and a huge scene in the old park, where all-Finland singing competitions were held earlier, and a very nice bay in the city center. In general, I highly recommend it.
5. But the absolutely must-visit place is Ruskeala. During the retreat, the Finns flooded there a marble quarry in which stone was mined for half of the palaces and temples of St. Petersburg. And now it is a fantastic beauty lake in marble shores. There is an equipped path around, they ride a troll and give a rope jump into the quarry. And there, in the backyard, the ruins of a lime-and-marble plant, the atmosphere in the spirit of Half-Life and Stalker. Nearby there is a cascade of waterfalls in Tohmajoki and a place that was designated here as "the ruins of the Finnish hydroelectric power station." In fact, the new Russian hydroelectric station Ryumyakoski was there. A little technical help:
"The capacity of the hydroelectric power station is 0.63 MW, the average annual output is 2.5 million kWh, one vertical hydraulic unit with a rotary-blade turbine manufactured by the Czech company Strojierny Brno as is installed in the hydroelectric power station building. The station operates in fully automatic mode, managed by the Lyaskel hydroelectric station. "
6. On the eastern shore of Ladoga, we were pleased with Olonets, there is an interesting museum of Karelian Livviks and a picturesque church on the island, where 3 bridges lead. And there is delicious bread, wickets with potatoes and millet, cheesecakes weighing a pound (seriously!) And excellent dairy products.
7. At the end of the route, a curious monastery of Alexander Svirsky was waiting for us. A detective story happened with his imperishable relics, but I will tell her later. In the meantime, look what kind of murals there are!
8. And in conclusion I will mention the Farmer cafe of Veps cuisine. You do not expect much from a cafe on the highway, but in the end you get great food and interesting cultural experiences.
Of course, there were many other adventures along the way — tropical rain, the oncoming car that flew into the ditch, and the ruins of a medical equipment factory — all that I love road trips for.
