Mercure d'Orléans (not to be confused with Jean Mercure). Ballet
Sometimes supposed that the lutenist and composer Mercure d'Orléans was in the service of Philippe-Emmanuel de Lorraine, Duke of Mercoeur (Nuremberg, 1602), and borrowed his name. However, there are traces (1655) of people who bore this name in Orleans at the time. He was still active in 1621. The score of his surviving pieces is found only in German sources.
