Charles Mouton. Prelude.
Charles Mouton (1617 - 1699) was a French lutenist and composer. It is thought that his youth he spent in service to the court of Savoy in Turin. He settled in Paris in 1678 and in 1691 was referred to as a teacher of the lute. Milleran, Richee, and Edelinck were among his pupils. He published two books of his own compositions 'Pièces de luth sur différents modes'. He composed specifically for the lute and was one of the last great seventeenth-century French lutenists.
