В любом виде искусства, будь то поэзия или скульптура, есть свои шедевры. Обычно ими становятся работы, заслужившие признание общественности. Сегодня об одном из таких шедевров в области веб-комикса мы и поговорим. Да, как не странно, речь пойдет именно о “Better Days”. На чем же основывается такая высокая оценка творчества Джея Нейлора (Jay Naylor)? Давайте разбираться…
Итак, комикс “Better Days” (что переводится на русский как “Лучшие Дни”) - это комедия и драма в одном флаконе, повествующая о жизни семьи Блэков. А точнее, о котятах-близнецах Фиске и Люси и их матери Шэйле, чей муж погиб во Вьетнаме. История делится на так называемые “чаптеры” или, по-русски, - главы, которые рассказывают о разных эпизодах жизни семьи Блэков.
Знакомство читателя с главными героями происходит на первых страницах комикса. События разворачиваются в 1980 году, Фиску и Люси по 9 лет. С самого начала автор неспешно и реалистично описывает жизнь обыкновенных детей, их поступки, игры, взгляды на жизнь и общество – словом, все то, что избавляет нас от необходимости читать описание героев. Они растут на наших глазах, и их характер, мировоззрение и приоритеты меняются по мере приобретения жизненного опыта в ситуациях, с которыми им приходится сталкиваться. Так совершенно незаметно происходит и с вами уважаемый читатель, верно?
Многогранный процесс формирования личности, изложенный преимущественно в виде картинок и диалогов – основная идея комикса, ярко выделяющая его из ряда других.
Теперь стоит обратить внимание на само название - “Лучшие Дни”, которое как бы подразумевает что, “светлое будущее” и путь до него неразрывно связаны. В одном из интервью Джей сказал: “Если в пятнадцать и в двадцать пять лет ты – один и тот же человек, то у тебя большие проблемы”. Поэтому не удивительно, что персонажи, вызывающие у нас симпатию в начале комикса, становятся предметом осуждения после десятка глав.
Некоторые полагают, что главных героев истории Джей позаимствовал у Мэта Шэрера (Mat Sharer, автор комикса “Badly Drawn Kitties”). Однако, между персонажами сотни различий, не заметить которые очень сложно. Пусть подобные высказывания останутся на совести их авторов.
Мир “Better Days” – это антропоморфная версия привычного для нас мира, и она подразумевает неоднородность населяющих его персонажей. А именно:
Белые - Собаки, Кошки, Кролики.
Черные - Гиены.
Евреи - Мыши.
Азиаты - Скунсы, Панды.
Русские - Волки.
Арабы - Лисы Фенек.
Австралийцы - Динго.
Адвокаты - Крысы.
В процессе развития сюжета затрагиваются многие актуальные темы межличностных отношений: религия, мораль, долг, верность и многие другие. Безусловно, каждый читатель найдет в этой истории что-то близкое для себя.
Другая, не менее сильная сторона комикса – юмор. И дело тут не в том, что его много, просто он весьма разнообразен и всегда уместен. Отдельно хочется отметить мимику персонажей, её уровень действительно впечатляет. А разве могло бы быть иначе? Джей Нейлор - выдающийся художник фурри-комиксов, стиль его творчества давно стал легко узнаваемым, а аудитория читателей из разных стран исчисляется десятками тысяч. Кстати, в настоящее время автор работает еще над одним комиксом, масштабы, графика и сюжетная линия которого обещают затмить даже “Better Days”. Now it is worth paying attention to the name itself - "Best Days", which, as it were, implies that "a bright future" and the path to it are inextricably linked. In an interview, Jay said: "If at fifteen and twenty-five years old you are the same person, then you have big problems." Therefore, it is not surprising that the characters that we like at the beginning of the comic become the subject of condemnation after a dozen chapters.
Some believe that Jay borrowed the main characters of the story from Mat Sharer (author of the comic "Badly Drawn Kitties"). However, there are hundreds of differences between the characters, which are very difficult to miss. Let such statements remain on the conscience of their authors.
