Неизвестный подвиг подполковника Путина.
В ту ночь, когда рухнула Берлинская стена, огромная толпа более 5 тысяч человек разгромила здание немецкой разведки Штази. Они всё унесли, даже архивные файлы, документы с именами ГДРовских разведчиков. Ужасно сложилась судьба многих этих людей, так как архивы оказались в руках толпы. Да и здание было разгромлено полностью. Через стену от этого здания находилась резидентура Комитета Государственной Безопасности СССР. Начальник резидентуры, увидев толпу, сбежал. Понимая, что толпа сейчас ворвётся в здание КГБ и со зданием будет тоже самое, что и со Штази, оставшийся старшим по званию подполковник позвонил в соседнею воинскую часть с просьбой о помощи. Генерал ответил, что без команды из Москвы дать бойцов на охрану не может. А Москва молчит, на звонки не отвечает, никто не знает что делать.

И толпа врывается во двор КГБ СССР. Пять тысяч человек. Пьяные с бутылками пива на руках. Подполковник, оставшийся за главного, выходит к этой толпе и пытается в одиночку остановить разъяренную людей, обращаясь к ним: «То, что упала Берлинская стена – это добрая воля нашей страны! Здесь здание, которое мы охраняем. Это собственность Советского Союза! Поймите правильно – это собственность другой страны. Мы офицеры – выполняем свой долг…». Их, офицеров, было восемь человек. Они по окнам, как в бойницах, стояли с оружием. А вышедший подполковник с пистолетом с двенадцатью патронами в обойме преграждал путь толпе. Толпа наседала и подполковник сказал: «Вы знаете – я офицер. У меня 12 патронов. Один патрон я оставлю для себя. Но, выполняя свой долг, я буду стрелять. Я по-другому не могу – я офицер!» Он это сказал и стал медленно подниматься по ступенькам к входу в здание. Он шёл медленно, вполне ожидая, что кто-то кинет ему в спину либо камень, либо бутылку. Он очень медленно поднимался. А когда поднялся и обернулся, то увидел, что толпа стала расходиться. Никто из немцев в ту ночь в здание КГБ СССР не вошёл. Никто к документам архива не прикоснулся. В Дрездене до сих пор многие рассказывают эту историю. Эта история, ставшая почти легендой в Дрездене жива до сих пор. Немцы с гордостью рассказывают, что тогда послушались неизвестного подполковника, имя которого на тот момент никому ничего не говорило. Сейчас же этот подполковник известен на весь мир.
