30+ лет выпускали комбинированную вакцину. Она себя прекрасно зарекомендовала. Там, где она активно применялась, соответствующие болезни сошли на нет.
И вдруг - как гром среди ясного неба - "вакцинация вредная!". Начинается массовая истерия, отказы от прививок, и болезни, считавшиеся уже побеждёнными, вновь начинают наносить вполне реальный вред. Включая смерти детей.
Звучит знакомо, да?
Только это не Россия. Это самый что ни на есть Запад.
Случившаяся в конце девяностых массовая истерия, серия статей в стиле "врачи-убийцы наживаются на здоровье наших детей", а потом, в обратку, серия разоблачительных публикаций о "самой вредной медицинской фальсификации за последние 100 лет" получила даже специальное название: MMR Scare.
Так что, вполне возможно, волна антивакцинационных настроений и впрямь идёт с Запада. Только это, как обычно, скорее дурь чем злой умысел. Они и сами себе злобные буратины.
И ещё замечу: первым, кто заподозрил неладное и провел расследование, положившее начало разоблачению Вейкфилда, был журналист Sunday Times Брайен Дир.
Вот вам и польза от независимой прессы.

The mass hysteria that happened in the late nineties, a series of articles in the style of "killer doctors cashing in on the health of our children", and then, in return, a series of exposing publications about "the most harmful medical falsification in the last 100 years" even received a special name: MMR Scare.
So, it is quite possible that the wave of anti-vaccination sentiment is indeed coming from the West. Only this, as usual, is more foolishness than malicious intent. They are their own spiteful Buratins.
And I will also note: the first to suspect that something was wrong and conducted the investigation that marked the beginning of the exposure of Wakefield was the Sunday Times journalist Brian Deere.
So much for the benefits of an independent press.
