Tyrone Proctor разделил первых вакинг танцоров на три категории:
1) Непосредственно те, кто начал танцевать стиль - в андеграундных гей-клубах, на вечеринках. Они не называли его вакингом - они вообще никак его не называли???? Просто кайфовали, просто танцевали. У каждого была своя подача и стилистика.
2) Локеры и другие уличные танцоры, которые пародировали танец первых. Они называли геев punks, и логично предположить, что отсюда и растут ноги у названия punking.
3) Танцоры на шоу Soul Train (к которым как раз и относится Tyrone): молодые танцоры того времени, которые начали развивать стиль, представляя его на телешоу, на подтанцовках у звезд, начали преподавать и распространять информацию и т.д.
А вот теперь давайте обратимся к другой точке зрения на историю стиля, и в особенности здесь будет интересным взгляд на то, что такое punking, а также откуда появилось название и какие были предпосылки к визуальному оформлению стиля.
Два года назад в сети появилось видео от Kumari Suraj, которая записала разъясняющее видео под названием WHAT IS WAACKING? (оно прикреплено к посту, так что смотрим)
Видео полностью на английском, но я переведу вам несколько мыслей оттуда (дальше пойдет информация 18+):
- Punking это действие, а waacking - реакция. В 70х быть человеком нетрадиционной ориентации было прямо скажем нехорошо. Страдая от давления и притеснения обществом, молодые представители гей-сообщества создали стиль выражения себя, где они эмоционально и психологически высвобождались, выражаю свою креативность и индивидуальность. Punk, punking - авторство этого названия приписывают легендарой личности в вакинг культуре - диджею гей-клубов того времении в Лос-Анджелесе DJ Michael-Angelo (кстати, во многом благодаря ему те известные диско треки, под которые мы танцуем вакинг, такие быстрые????). Таким термином называли геев, не в лучшей манере, но люди внутри сообщества превратили негатив в позитив и "punk'овали музыку". Так, punking означает играть как актер, стать кинофильмом, рассказывать историю своим персонажем.
- Название стиля #whacking имеет отсылки к американскому тв-сериалу 60х Batman & Robin, где во время действий героев На экране появлялись надписи как из комиксов boom, punch, #whack! последний означает бить с силой, разрезать воздух. Так, whack - это название движения.
- Название стиля в написании whacking было больше распространено среди гей-сообщества, тогда как после выхода стиля за рамки закрытой группы люди традиционной ориентации не хотели ассоциировать то, что они танцуют , с какой-то социальной группой. Так название модифицировалось в #Waacking и распространилось по всему миру.
