Дом старого князя Болконского еще можно спасти. С марта застройщик планомерно ломает дом по адресу Воздвиженка, 9. толстовский адрес прямо рядом с Кремлем. Это дом князей Волконских - предков писателя.
Сам Лев Николаевич здесь неоднократно бывал. Здесь он познакомился с княжной П.С. Щербатовой – Кити Щербацкой из романа «Анна Каренина». Сюда, на Воздвиженку, Толстой поселил старого князя Болконского, героя «Войны и Мира». Дом перестраивался в 1890-1910-х гг., а также в 1990-х гг., но сохранил архитектурную и мемориальную ценность.
Тем не менее, дом Волконских в 2009-м году из памятников разжаловали. Он стал рядовым зданием. Поэтому когда его хозяин, «Центр межличностных коммуникаций», захотел еще больше квадратных метров и решил дом надстроить двумя этажами, ему все согласовали. Не обращая внимание на то, что Воздвиженка – историческое сердце города, часть объединенной охранной зоны, в которой можно только воссоздавать, а не строить то, чего никогда не было.
В апреле отбойными молотками по ночам и выходным сносили стену XVIII века дворового фасада. Если работы не остановить, одна из центральных улиц Москвы может обогатиться обновленным монстром, который вполне гармонично будет смотреться – разве что с Военторгом. Он расположен как раз напротив.
Однако дом старого князя Болконского еще можно спасти. Сейчас «Архнадзор» собирает подписи культурной общественности под открытым письмом мэру. Свой автограф уже оставили более 100 писателей, актеров, архитекторов, музыкантов, сотрудников музеев.
