По словам министра культуры Франции, основную структуру Нотр-Дама удалось спасти, но выгорели две трети площади крыши, обрушился шпиль и часть поперечного нефа. В то же время сохранились колокольни и не пострадали реликвии, которые хранятся в ризнице храма. Произведения искусства, которые удалось вывезти из собора, находятся в мэрии Парижа. Президент Франции Эммануэль Макрон пообещал, что власти восстановят Нотр-Дам. В Министерстве культуры РФ назвали произошедшее «большой трагедией».
