30-летняя война (закончившаяся только в 1992 году) полностью опусташила страну, а последовавшие за ней три года наводнений принесли, возможно, даже больше вреда, чем сама война. 70% населения Мозамбика живет сегодня за чертой бедности, а у каждого пятого ребенка нет образования. Но эти дети выглядят такими открытыми, такими веселыми и счастливыми!
И вы знаете, что? Не существует ни счастья, ни несчастья, как абсолютной величины; они существуют только в наших с вами головах и только в сравнение друг с другом, не более того. Но, только тот, кто пережил глубочайшее горе, способен чувствовать высочайшее счастье даже в самых мелочах. Они испытали что это такое — быть на самом дне, и теперь они могут оценить и по-настоящему насладиться каждой минутой своей жизни. Есть вещи, которым мы можем их научить, но есть и очень многое, чему мы должны учиться у них. Они, будучи детьми, сталкиваются с такими испытаниями, о которых многим взрослым даже и подумать страшно. Они точно знают, что взросление — это боль. И они ее преодолевают. Падают. Поднимаются. Идут дальше. И они знают, что велики шансы, что они будут падать снова и снова. Но каждый раз они будут узнавать что-то новое. Каждый раз становиться немного сильнее, немного мудрее. Борьба — часть их повседневной жизни. Каждый день. По сей день. Видно, как боль оставляет свои следы на их крошечных лицах, и как все самое важное, что когда-нибудь случалось с ними в жизни, отражается в их глазах. Доблестные и храбрые маленькие герои.

The 30-year war (which ended only in 1992) completely devastated the country, and the subsequent three years of floods did perhaps even more harm than the war itself. 70% of the population of Mozambique today lives below the poverty line, and one in five children has no education. But these kids look so open, so funny and happy!
And you know what? There is neither happiness nor unhappiness as an absolute value; they exist only in our heads with you and only in comparison with each other, nothing more. But, only the one who has experienced the deepest grief is able to feel the highest happiness even in the smallest things. They experienced what it is like to be at the very bottom, and now they can appreciate and truly enjoy every minute of their lives. There are things that we can teach them, but there are also a lot that we should learn from them. As children, they face such trials that many adults are afraid to even think about. They know for sure that growing up is pain. And they overcome it. Are falling. Are rising. Move on. And they know the chances are good that they will fall over and over again. But each time they will learn something new. Every time you become a little stronger, a little wiser. Struggle is part of their daily life. Everyday. To this day. You can see how pain leaves its marks on their tiny faces, and how the most important thing that ever happened to them in life is reflected in their eyes. Valorous and brave little heroes.
