Я давно хотела прочесть это произведение, и наконец то решилась. Не буду описывать все переживания, с которыми связано прочтение данного романа, поделюсь лишь одним из возникших наблюдений
Роман «Камо грядеши» («Quo vadis») по праву считается одним из лучших исторических романов
Сенкевича. Писатель начал работать над книгой весной 1894 года. Роман, завершенный в феврале 1896 года, очень
скоро был переведен на все основные европейские языки.
Действие романа развивается в Римской империи во время правления императора Нерона и охватывает период 64-68 гг.
Основная тема произведения — жизнь первых христиан римской общины и первые гонения христиан в Римской империи.
Сенкевич сумел воссоздать картину Рима 60-х годов I века с большой исторической достоверностью. По словам писателя, при написании ни одного другого романа он столько не работал с историческими документами.
Итак. Первую церковь, которую насаждали Апостолы Петр и Павел называли сектой. Что до сих пор происходит по отношению к церквям, которые созданы в духе Апостолов и не несут в своем учении ничего, кроме того, о чем говорит Слово Божие - Библия.

Я спросил у него как у иудея, одно ли и то же христиане и иудеи? Он ответил, что у иудеев религия древняя, а христиане – это новая секта, недавно

как будто и знать не хотят. Не понимаю, чем бы это им повредило.

В Риме ходили слухи, что грандиозный пожар в июле 64 года, длившийся почти девять дней, был устроен по приказу императора. Чтобы отвести от себя подозрения, Нерон «предал изощреннейшим казням тех,
кто своими мерзостями навлек на себя всеобщую ненависть и кого толпа называла христианами.
Христа, от имени которого происходит это название, казнил при Тиберии прокуратор Понтий Пилат; подавленное на время, это зловредное суеверие стало вновь прорываться наружу, и не только
в Иудее, откуда пошла эта пагуба, но и в Риме…» (Тацит. Анналы, XV, 44). Эти слова Тацита – первое историческое свидетельст-
во о распространении в Риме христианства. Конечно, Тацит разделял все предрассудки своего времени относительно нового учения.
Эта цитата Тацина вошла в роман. Так же там описаны и другие предрассудки, которые до сих пор можно услышать про истинных христиан: привнесение в жертву детей, вымогательство, оргии, отравление колодцев и тд.

фонтана, который, мнилось, плакал в ночной тиши над телами замученных.
