Вчера была на второй лекции программы, подготовленной Новой сценой Александринки совместно с журналом "Теория моды". Искусствовед и историк моды, доцент СПбГУ Екатерина Васильева рассказывала о влиянии античной традиции на формирование моды. Очень интересно, последовательно, аргументированно, с примерами. Думаю, о таком нужно знать - хотя бы для того, чтобы перестать видеть в вещах просто вещи и осознать в них нечто большее. Чтобы понять, что мода - это не свитшоты и подвёрнутые джинсы, это непрекращающийся процесс развития и иногда - одёжной революции. Это то, что сквозь века связывает греческие хитоны, героинь полотен Боттичелли, платья-шмисс эпохи ампир, лаконичные наряды Века джаза, вечерние туалеты 60-х и архитектурные силуэты 90-х. Это то, что позволяет увидеть в Кейт Мосс в платье-майке из коллекции Calvin Klein тех самых кариатид из Парфенона. Знаете, это очень круто - когда вдруг начинаешь улавливать эти невидимые связи, понимать больше смыслов. Ты уже не просто покупаешь новую одежду в магазине или разбираешь шкаф - ты проводишь археологическое исследование.
Кстати, не могу не поделиться одним интересным фактом. Для нас античность, в частности Древняя Греция, в плане одежды всегда устойчиво связана с белым цветом. Аристотель в белой тоге, Афина Паллада в белом хитоне, Ника Самофракийская в развевающихся белых одеждах - эти образы преследуют нас со школ и университетов. Но белый не был доминирующим в античной одежде, она была цветной - древние греки раскрашивали даже скульптуры. Но до нас это наследие дошло исключительно в белом мраморе - и кто-то солидный решил приписать античности этот total white. Такие дела. Заблуждение даже не века, а десятков веков)
Так вот, следующая лекция - 13 декабря в 19.30, на Новой сцене, набережная Фонтанки 49а. Тему видно на афишке. Если вдруг кто решит составить компанию - буду рада.

Yesterday I attended the second lecture of the program, prepared by the New Stage of the Alexandrinka in cooperation with the Theory of Fashion magazine. Art critic and fashion historian, associate professor of St. Petersburg State University Ekaterina Vasilyeva spoke about the influence of the ancient tradition on the formation of fashion. Very interesting, consistently, reasonably, with examples. I think you need to know about this - at least in order to stop seeing things in things and realize something more in them. You know, it's very cool - when you suddenly begin to grasp these invisible connections, to understand more meanings. You are no longer just buying new clothes in a store or dismantling a closet - you are conducting archaeological research.

Aristotle in a white toga, Pallas Athena in a white tunic, Nike of Samothrace in fluttering white robes - these images haunt us from schools and universities. But white was not dominant in antique clothing, it was colored - the ancient Greeks even painted sculptures. But this heritage has come down to us exclusively in white marble - and someone respectable decided to attribute this total white to antiquity. So it goes. The delusion is not even centuries, but tens of centuries)
