Названа в честь мадам Клико — помним, что это она сделала шампанское прозрачным, стала одной из первых деловых женщин Европы и всё это в 18 веке. Во всем мире премия вручается с 1972 года, и за это время её получили более 300 женщин из 27 стран мира.

В России Business Woman Award вручается второй год. В 2018 году эту престижную награду получила Татьяна Бакальчук, основательница крупнейшего онлайн-ритейлера Wildberries.
