Сан-Франциско оказался городом, который можно смело вносить в список «как Питер», особенно в области погодных явлений. В одном районе туман, в другом дождь, в третьем светит холодное солнце, и в целом как-то всё по-осеннему. Можно сказать, Сан-Франциско - город вечной осени. И хотя именно это делает его таким похожим на Петербург, общие черты на этом не заканчиваются. В отличие от других городов США, у Сан-Франциско свои правила и нравы. Это город революции сознания, революции нравственности и культурных ценностей. Именно здесь произошли те изменения, которые далее очень сильно отразились на американской истории. Взять, к примеру, судьбу района Кастро и политические игры с участием Харви Милка. Именно он впервые наглядно показал, что такие вещи как «ориентация» не должны и не могут быть преградой для того, чтобы быть тем, кем ты хочешь. Милку, будучи политиком с непопулярными на тот момент взглядами, удалось изменить ситуацию. И, хотя это стоило ему жизни, сегодня Кастро, Сан-Франциско и все Штаты живут свободно именно благодаря его смелости. Это не единственный пример в истории, когда что-то важное и судьбоносное начинало свой путь именно в городе с Золотыми воротами.
Как и Петербург, Сан-Франциско является портовым городом, где морская гладь играет одну из важнейших ролей. Здесь вам и масса старых пирсов, переоборудованных под культурные центры, музеи и выставочные площади. И откормленные чайки, ворующие еду у людей прямо из рук. И корабли, что день и ночь пересекают Золотые ворота. Всё это так похоже на город на Неве. Даже запах города, если исключить повсеместное курение травы, очень похож на обычный петербургский воздух.
Одним из самых главных плюсов Сан-Франциско была встреча с давно переехавшими туда друзьями, и особенно [id40091867|Денисом]. Чёрт, это так неожиданно и приятно, встречаться с дорогими тебе людьми на другом конце земного шара спустя долгое время разлуки. Благодаря [id40091867|Денису] мы с [id824233|Кириллом] посмотрели на город с не самой туристической стороны, а мне ещё и удалось посетить парк, где растут гигантские секвойи. И, пожалуй, я обязательно ещё раз приеду в этот город, ведь точно знаю, что там меня ждут.
В завершении этого небольшого рассказа о большом городе мне хочется сказать, что Сан-Франциско оставил после себя очень смешанные чувства. Это место обладает совершенно неповторимой историей, наполненной борьбой за свободу, права и не привычный для нас набор человеческих ценностей. Но именно это породило в некоторых людях тех демонов, что заставили их позже совершать ужасные вещи. И история Харви Мила прямое тому подтверждение. Кто-то, безусловно, справляется со своей тёмной стороной и становится сильнее, а кто-то позволяет ей завладеть собой и отпускает всё на самотёк, жертвуя порой не только своей человечностью. Я долго думал над тем, почему так происходит, и в конечном итоге понял: не все готовы к той свободе, что предлагает им Сан-Франциско. И именно для таких людей, слабых волей и духом, создаются правила и законы. Это позволяет городу держать баланс между беспрерывным стремлением вверх и стремительным падением вниз.

It was he who clearly showed for the first time that such things as "orientation" should not and cannot be an obstacle to being who you want. Milk, being a politician with views unpopular at that time, managed to change the situation. And, although it cost him his life, today Castro, San Francisco and all the States live freely precisely because of his courage. This is not the only example in history when something important and fateful began its journey in the city with the Golden Gate.
Like St. Petersburg, San Francisco is a port city where the sea surface plays one of the most important roles. Here you will find a lot of old piers, converted into cultural centers, museums and exhibition areas. And well-fed seagulls stealing food from people straight out of their hands. And the ships that cross the Golden Gate day and night. All this looks so much like a city on the Neva. Even the smell of the city, if we exclude the widespread smoking of grass, is very similar to the usual St. Petersburg air.
One of the main advantages of San Francisco was meeting with friends who had moved there long ago, and especially [id40091867 | Denis]. Hell, it’s so unexpected and pleasant to meet people dear to you on the other side of the world after a long time of separation. Thanks to [id40091867 | Denis], [id824233 | Kirill] and I looked at the city from a non-touristy side, and I also managed to visit a park where giant sequoias grow. And, perhaps, I will definitely come to this city again, because I know for sure that they are waiting for me there.

This place has a completely unique history filled with the struggle for freedom, rights and a set of human values that are not familiar to us. But it was this that gave rise to those demons in some people, which made them later do terrible things. And the story of Harvey Meal is a direct confirmation of this. Someone, of course, copes with their dark side and becomes stronger, while someone allows her to take possession of himself and let everything go by itself, sometimes sacrificing not only their humanity. I thought for a long time about why this is happening, and ultimately realized: not everyone is ready for the freedom that San Francisco offers them. And it is for such people, weak in will and spirit, that rules and laws are created. This allows the city to maintain a balance between a continuous upward drive and a precipitous downward trend.
