Архипелаг Северная Земля – последнее и самое крупное географическое открытие в Арктике. Голомянный — остров архипелага Седова в составе Северной Земли. Это длинная и узкая полоска суши, на которой в 1954 году была построена метеостанция, которая работает и по сей день. Удивительно, строили в 54 у черта на рогах, а дом стоит и не жужжит. Проект тоже интересный, сделаны специальные холодные отсеки: рядом с кухней холодный чулан для продуктов, а нужник хоть и в доме, но запаха нет за счет такой конструкции. Все очень продуманно и удобно
Раньше в Арктике было много подобных станций, но постепенно они закрывались, метеорологов сокращали. На этой из 12 работников осталось всего 3, теперь им приходится выполнять весь объем работ самим. Но они не унывают, ведь так можно больше ставок покрыть

Это суровый край: полярная ночь длится много месяцев, средняя годовая температура около -14 градусов, постоянные вьюги и медведи бродят рядом. Вахты длятся по году и больше. Только настоящие полярники способны выдержать такое, люди из стали - не иначе
Каждые 3 часа они отправляют данные на материк - этот дом никогда не спит. Когда мы уже в конец ошалели от вынужденного ожидания и сбитого режима и бродили сутки напролет как зомби, в любое время суток могли встретить кого-нибудь, кто тоже бодрствовал
Все измерительные приборы находятся в другом здании, примерно в 15 метрах от дома, поэтому каждую смену метеорологи преодолевают это расстояние на свой страх и риск - кругом бродят белые медведи. Выход из дома без огнестрельного оружия запрещен. В 80-х одного специалиста медведь подкараулил и разорвал
Это суровое, но очень красивое место
