Планировалось, что мы поедем на Международную Нефтегазовую выставку в Абу-Даби с мужем-инженером по нефтепереработке. Он будет принимать активное участие в беседах, а мне переводить с нефтяного на русский (уж очень хорошо у него получается адаптировать рассказы про химические процессы для неподготовленной публики).
Но муж срочно уехал в командировку в свой любимый Курдистан, дав наказ найти стенды Аднока, Газпрома, Лукойла и Сауди Арамко, чтобы расспросить о новых рефайнери: “Офшор не подходит- только оншор, а грин фил не так интересно как браун фил”. Все записала на бумажку.
Перед парковкой огромные очереди из машин - еще бы - крупнейшее нефтяное мероприятие Мидл Иста. На входе проверка ID и скан сумок через металлоискатель. Очередь, как в Диснейленд на аттракционе! Хорошо ,что я девушка, а для девушек отдельный вход. На 100 мужчин было 3 женщины, что, впрочем, типичная картина для наших краев.
Под крышей гигантского экспоцентра собрались, наверное, все восточные нефтяные компании. Народу -полно. Арабы в кондурах, Белые в костюмах. Сколько респектабельных мужчин в одном месте!
Начнем со стенда Аднока. Шла до него долго - ведь стенд крупнейшей и кажется единственной нефтяной компании Эмиратов в самом центре. Оформлен отлично, с арабским гостеприимством: на полу черно-белый ковер, в углу кафе, где всем бесплатно наливали кофе-чай-соки. Чтобы найти какую-то персону, отвечающую, допустим, за строительство АЗС, надо было пересмотреть бейджи сотни арабов. Нет уж, спасибо.
Рядом стенд BP - они демонстрировали на огромной плазме свои достижения в области защиты окружающей среды (фото с заводов чередовались с фото зелени и моря) - хочется надеяться, что они и вправду заботятся о выбросах. Впрочем, наверное, сейчас такая тенденция в моде - Total презентовала свою программу защиты обитателей рифа, где идет добыча (офшор). Даже Лукойл выдал брошюрку cо своими заводами пососедству с пингвинами, морскими котиками и крабами (почему-то парящими в небе). Ecological Friendly. Стенды Газпрома и Лукойла были не более, чем дорогими рекламными плакатами - сидевшие там кукольные девочки даже не являлись постоянными сотрудницами. “Мы ничего не презентуем, просто выставляемся ради имиджа”. Конечно, ведь наши министры в рамках выставки обсуждали вопросы сотрудничества.
На стенде Saudia Aramco мне презентовали goodie bag (набор с подарками) туда входила визитница, ручка в футляре и сумочка для сувениров. Есть что-ли какой то международный стандарт на сувенирку, да? Уж лучше угощаться на стендах небольших нефтяных компаний Кувейта, Бахрейна типа “Али и сыновья” всякими национальными яствами. Круасаны с затром (приправа), финики с шоколадом, булочки с острой рыбой, шоколад, шоколад, шоколад.
К сожалению, я толком не смогла поговорить с представителями НК о планах, о ценах на нефть, об антикризисных стратегиях - очень много народа и лучше бы иметь предварительные договоренности и переводчика, в виде мужа.
Многие компании делали на своих стендах модели нефтеперерабатывающих заводов, танкеров, вышек. Все тщательно проработано, наглядно. А уж насосы, клапаны, трубы в разрезе смотрели с каждого угла, но девочкам же это не интересно.
А вот национальный танец арабов с мечами - то, что понятно. Национальный ансамбль выступал несколько раз в день. Атмосфера на выставке классная. Спокойная, доброжелательная. Для инженеров так еще и супер полезная.

ADIPEC Exhibition
It was planned that we would go to the International Oil and Gas Exhibition in Abu Dhabi with my husband, an oil refining engineer. He will take an active part in the conversations, and I will translate from oil to Russian (he is very good at adapting stories about chemical processes for an unprepared audience).
But my husband urgently went on a business trip to his beloved Kurdistan, instructing him to find the stands of Adnok, Gazprom, Lukoil and Saudi Aramko in order to ask about the new refineries: “Offshore is not suitable - only onshore, and green fil is not as interesting as brown fil”. I wrote everything down on a piece of paper.
There are huge queues of cars in front of the parking lot - of course - the largest oil event of the Middle East. At the entrance, ID check and scan of bags through a metal detector. Queue like at Disneyland for the attraction! It's good that I'm a girl, and there is a separate entrance for girls. There were 3 women per 100 men, which, however, is a typical picture for our regions.
Probably all the eastern oil companies have gathered under the roof of the giant expo center. The people are full. Arabs in kondurs, Whites in suits. How many respectable men are in one place!
Let's start with Adnok's stand. It took a long time to get there - after all, the stand of the largest and seems to be the only oil company in the Emirates is in the very center. The decor is excellent, with Arabian hospitality: there is a black and white carpet on the floor, in the corner of the cafe, where everyone was served free coffee, tea, juices. To find some person responsible, for example, for the construction of a gas station, it was necessary to revise the badges of hundreds of Arabs. No thanks.
Nearby is the BP stand - they were demonstrating their achievements in the field of environmental protection on a huge plasma (photos from factories alternated with photos of greenery and the sea) - I hope that they really care about emissions. However, this trend is probably in vogue now - Total has presented its program to protect the inhabitants of the reef, where mining is taking place (offshore). Even Lukoil issued a brochure with its factories next door to penguins, fur seals and crabs (for some reason soaring in the sky). Ecological Friendly. The stands of Gazprom and Lukoil were nothing more than expensive advertising posters - the doll girls sitting there were not even permanent employees. "We are not presenting anything, we are just exhibiting for the sake of the image." Of course, our ministers discussed cooperation issues within the framework of the exhibition.
At the Saudia Aramco stand, I was presented with a goodie bag (a set with gifts), which included a business card holder, a pen in a case and a bag for souvenirs. Is there any international standard for a souvenir, right? It is better to treat yourself to all sorts of national dishes at the stands of small oil companies in Kuwait and Bahrain, such as “Ali and Sons”. Croissants with mash (seasoning), dates with chocolate, buns with spicy fish, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.
Unfortunately, I was not really able to talk with the NK representatives about plans, about oil prices, about anti-crisis strategies - there are a lot of people and it would be better to have preliminary agreements and an interpreter in the form of a husband.
Many companies made models of oil refineries, tankers, and towers at their stands. Everything is carefully worked out, clearly. And the pumps, valves, pipes in the section looked from every angle, but the girls are not interested.
But the national dance of the Arabs with swords is understandable. The national ensemble performed several times a day. The atmosphere at the exhibition is great. Calm and friendly. It's super useful for engineers too.
