В жизни кафе Две Мельницы кажется гораздо меньше, чем в кино. Работают тут исключительно официанты мужского пола, а не женского, как показано в фильме.
А что значит кафе-брассери ? Изначально так назывались небольшие пивные с собственными пивоварнями, которых в начале прошлого века в Париже было великое множество. Монмартрская элита была постоянным клиентом таких кафе, где всегда можно было дешево поесть и выпить недорогого пива. Сейчас такое название означает, что в заведении сохранены интерьеры, мебель, посуда, меню и даже одежда официантов того времени.
Таких кафе и ресторанов в Париже немало. Традиционно, меню пишется мелом на черной доске и выставляется на улицу. Вот только официанткой в этом кафе Амели работать не могла – согласно правилам, сохранившихся с прошлого столетия посетителей обслуживают здесь только мужчины.
Фильм прославил кафе Две мельницы Париж на весь мир. В зале установлена афиша картины Амели, это единственное изменение интерьера, на которое пошел его владелец.
