Торжок – колоритная остановка
Недавно известный блогер aquatek_filips писал про то, что Торжок ему совсем не понравился http://aquatek-filips.livejournal.com/1128236.html, чем навел меня на мысль написать пост о городе.
Торжок – один из самых атмосферных русских городов, в которых мы бывали. Я сторонница мнения, что лучшее время для путешествия по России – лето, когда и погода предсказуемая, и больше световой день. И этот город – отличный вариант для проведения летних выходных.
От Москвы очень удобно добраться до Торжка на машине за пятничный вечер.
Мы жили в сетевой гостинице «Оникс», расположенной на территории Новоторжского Кремля напротив Спасо-Преображенского собора. Здание гостиницы является памятником истории и архитектуры середины 18 - конца 19 вв. В холле отеля располагается небольшая музейная экспозиция, состоящая из предметов быта и украшений 12-14 вв. В общем, история города открывается прямо с порога.
Сами того не предполагая, на следующий день мы приняли участие в ежегодном фестивале средневековой истории и культуры "Новоторжский рубеж". Фестиваль посвящен героическому прошлому древнерусского града Торжка (Новый Торг), который в эпоху средневековья был одним из крупнейших городов Новгородской феодальной республики – форпостом на ее южных рубежах с «низовыми» русскими княжествами. Город неоднократно подвергался разграблениям со стороны южных русских соседей, монголов и литовцев. Фестиваль является возрождением средневековой бытовой и военной культуры Древней Руси, Европы и Азии 13 – 15 веков. Мероприятие проводится на Верхнем городище, где можно и на рыцарей посмотреть, и из лука пострелять, и сувениров прикупить, и в кузнице помастерить, и понаслаждаться красивым местом.
Кстати в этом году фестиваль будет проводиться с 30 апреля по 3 мая 2016 года. Так что не пропустите это атмосферное мероприятие - очень хорошо проведете время!
Недалеко от Верхнего городища находится Борисоглебский древний монастырь 1038 гг постройки. Можно подняться на колокольню, поснимать красивые виды.
Затем можно прогуляться по исторической набережной р. Тверца.
На второй день можно отправиться в Тверь, что в 67 км от Торжка, но это уже другая история.
В общем, как гласит девиз Всероссийского историко-этнографического музея: Торжок – колоритная остановка! Не забудьте на ней сойти!

Torzhok - a colorful stop

Torzhok is one of the most atmospheric Russian cities we have been to. I am a supporter of the opinion that the best time to travel around Russia is summer, when the weather is predictable and there is more daylight. And this city is a great option for a summer weekend.
It is very convenient to get from Moscow to Torzhok by car on Friday evening.
We lived in the Onyx chain hotel located on the territory of the Novotorzhsky Kremlin opposite the Transfiguration Cathedral. The hotel building is a historical and architectural monument of the mid 18th - late 19th centuries. In the lobby of the hotel there is a small museum exposition, consisting of household items and jewelry of the 12-14 centuries. In general, the history of the city opens right on the doorstep.
Without knowing it, the next day we took part in the annual festival of medieval history and culture "Novotorzhsky border". The festival is dedicated to the heroic past of the ancient Russian city of Torzhok (New Torg), which in the Middle Ages was one of the largest cities of the Novgorod feudal republic - an outpost on its southern borders with the "grassroots" Russian principalities. The city has been repeatedly plundered by the southern Russian neighbors, Mongols and Lithuanians. The festival is a revival of the medieval household and military culture of Ancient Russia, Europe and Asia of the 13th - 15th centuries. The event is held at the Upper Settlement, where you can look at the knights, and shoot with a bow, and buy souvenirs, and work in a smithy, and enjoy a beautiful place.
By the way, this year the festival will be held from April 30 to May 3, 2016. So don't miss out on this atmospheric event - have a really good time!
Not far from the Upper settlement there is an ancient Borisoglebsky monastery built in 1038. You can climb the bell tower, take pictures of the beautiful views.
Then you can stroll along the historic embankment of the river. Tvertsa.
On the second day, you can go to Tver, which is 67 km from Torzhok, but that's another story.
