То там то тут возникает терминологический спор - можно ли считать iPad персональным компьютером. Моя точка зрения:
Рассмотрим вопрос с трех сторон - для начала с точки зрения словаря - это подход для настоящих зануд ;)
computer (noun) an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program.
personal computer (noun) a computer designed for use by one person at a time.
Итак - с точки зрения словарного определения - может.
Теперь второй разрез - функциональный. 80% людей (я думаю что сейчас уже 97%, но чтобы не придираться возьму более скромную оценку) использует компьютер не выходя за рамки следующих задач:
Просмотр и действия в сети, просмотр видео, прослушивание музыки, компьютерные игры, редактирование и просмотр текстов, баз данных, презентаций и электронных таблиц. Голосовая и видео коммуникация (а-ля скайп), ведение расписания, контактов, электронная почта, создание музыки и монтаж видео роликов. Обработка изображений.
Для всех этих применений есть (и не одно) приложения на iPad и все эти действия могут выполняться на нем в полном объеме. Я не говорю о личных предпочтениях тех или иных программ но о принципиальной возможности это делать - она есть.
Оставим в покое программистов и администраторов Unix, но если быть честным и для них есть специальные средства на iPad-е.
Итак, для как минимум 80% пользователей, а подозреваю и большего числа - iPad функционально эквивалентен традиционному ПК.
И последний - самый интересный разрез - статистический. Посмотрите на приложенный график. В одном масштабе отложены продажи ведущих вендоров традиционных ПК и продажи Apple - все виды Mac + (!) iPad. Посмотрите что стало происходить с появлением iPad на рынке - невозможно отрицать что он УВЕЛ и продолжает уводить огромную аудиторию покупателей от покупки или обновления своего традиционного ПК.
Соответственно как не называй эту штуку без клавиатуры - а факт остается фактом - iPad стремительно заменяет традиционные ПК в о многих областях их былых применений.
Интересно, что если считать iPad ПК - все встанет на своим места - Apple в таком раскладе владеет 25% рынка компьютеров а не куда как меньшей долей как считалось ранее.
От такие дела, такой черный айпад малевича ;)

Browse and act online, watch videos, listen to music, play computer games, edit and view texts, databases, presentations and spreadsheets. Voice and video communication (a la skype), scheduling, contacts, email, creating music and editing video clips. Image processing.
For all these applications, there are (and not one) applications on the iPad and all these actions can be performed on it in full. I'm not talking about personal preferences of certain programs, but about the fundamental possibility of doing this - it is.
Let's leave Unix programmers and administrators alone, but to be honest, there are special tools for them on the iPad too.
So, for at least 80% of users, and I suspect more, the iPad is functionally equivalent to a traditional PC.

On the same scale, sales of leading vendors of traditional PCs and sales of Apple - all types of Mac + (!) IPad were postponed. Look at what happened with the arrival of the iPad on the market - it is impossible to deny that it has grown and continues to lead a huge audience of buyers away from buying or upgrading their traditional PC.
Accordingly, do not call this thing without a keyboard - and the fact remains - the iPad is rapidly replacing traditional PCs in many areas of their former applications.
Interestingly, if you count the iPad PC - everything will fall into place - Apple in this situation owns 25% of the computer market and not a much smaller share as previously thought.
From such things, such a black malevich's iPad;)
