Обычай всех израильских общин, что перед праздником «Песах» собирают деньги со всех жителей города для покупки пшеницы для последующей раздачи этих денег беднякам города.
Каждый человек проживший в городе тридцать дней, не смотря на то, что он еще не постоянный житель в этом месте, должен участвовать наравне со всеми в «Маот Хитим».
В наше время на практике основывают особые «кассы взаимопомощи» помогающих материально нуждающимся перед Песахом и это наиболее простой путь выполнения этой заповеди.
