ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ К «МИШНЕ ТОРА»
1. Все заповеди, которые даны были Моше на Синае — даны были с объяснениями, как сказано: «И дам Я тебе эти каменные скрижали, и этот закон, и эту заповедь» (Шмот 24:12); «закон» — это Письменная Тора, а «заповедь» — это объяснения к ней. И приказано нам выполнять «закон» на основании «заповеди». Эту «заповедь» называют Устная Тора.
2. Всю Письменную Тору Моше-рабейну записал до того, как умер, собственной рукой. Каждое из колен получило по свитку, а один свиток был положен в Ковчег Завета для свидетельства, как сказано: «И возьмите этот свиток Закона, и положите его туда, где Ковчег Завета Г-спода, Б-га вашего; и будет там, у вас, свидетелем» (Дварим 31:26).
3. А то, что называется «заповедью» — то есть, объяснение Торы — не записал; но заповедал это старейшинам и Йеошуа [Бин-Нуну], и всему народу Израиля, как сказано: «Все то, что я заповедую вам — [именно] это храните, чтобы выполнять...» (Дварим 13:1). Поэтому это называют Устной Торой.

FOREWORD TO THE TARAH MISSION
1. All the commandments that were given to Moshe at Sinai were given with explanations, as it is said: “And I will give you these tablets of stone, and this law, and this commandment” (Shemot 24:12); “Law” is the Written Torah, and “commandment” is an explanation of it. And we were ordered to fulfill the "law" on the basis of the "commandment." This "commandment" is called the Oral Torah.
2. The entire Written Torah was written by Moshe-rabein before he died, with his own hand. Each of the tribes received a scroll, and one scroll was placed in the Ark of the Covenant for testimony, as it is said: “And take this scroll of the Law, and put it where the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, your Gd; and he will be a witness there with you ”(Dvarim 31:26).
3. And what is called the "commandment" - that is, the explanation of the Torah - is not written down; but he commanded the elders and Jehoshua [Bin-Nun], and all the people of Israel, as it is said: “All that I command you - [it is] keep it to do ...” (Dvarim 13: 1).
