Знать и верить
По поводу задаваемого вопроса, верить ли простой верой или исследовать и постигать интеллектом. Обе эти вещи необходимы, и не только не противоречат, а наоборот дополняют друг друга. Начало служения заключается в простой вере и сразу наступает обязанность в заповеди, которая «основа основ и столп мудрости знать, что существует первичное Существование …», Рамбам, «Яд ахазака». Языком книги «Зоар»: «Первая заповедь из всех заповедей, знать о существовании Все-вышнего». И «не трудился и нашел – не верю». Человек обязан трудиться разумом и постигать интеллектом, насколько хватает его возможностей, возможности же человека ограничены. А то, что выше его возможностей, остается в сфере простой веры, являющейся фундаментом служения.
В чем заключается заповедь, знать или верить? В «Яд ахазака», которая написана позже книги заповедей, Рамбам пишет «знать». А также в издании книги заповедей переведенной с арабского, на котором она была написана, надо также интерпретировать как «знать», а не «верить».
