Ереси происходили и происходят часто оттого, что строптивый ум не имеет в себе мира и посевающее раздор вероломство не держится единства. Господь, сохраняя свободный наш произвол, допускает быть сему, чтобы, через искушение сердец и мыслей наших состязанием об истине, в ясном свете представилась чистой вера достойных. Об этом предвозвещает Дух Святой через апостола, говоря: подобает и ересем в вас быти, да искусниц явлени бывают в вас (1 Кор. 11, 19).
