На Руси мужика без бороды было видеть также дико, как и женщину с бородой. С безбородыми мужчинами старались не заключать договоров, поскольку считалось, что у них не только «женоликая» внешность, но и образ мышления подобен женскому. Ж. Борода есть духовная связь с предками и свободомыслие. В древнем мире, и не только у славян, если требовалось покорить, подчинить себе кого-то, то ему отрезали бороду.
