В Москве 2 ноября состоялись VI чтения Адама Смита, которые регулярно проводят российские либертарианцы. Либертарианство — политическая философия, главной ценностью считающая свободу.

"Я недавно был в рыбацкой деревне Сика, что в Индии рядом с границей с Пакистаном. С удивлением обнаружил, что там при общей бедности населения и существовании государственных школ действует частная школа с платой за обучение примерно $1 в месяц. Я спросил местных, почему они отправляют детей в частные школы, если в государственных дают бесплатные учебники, форму и завтраки, на что мне ответили — в государственных школах ученики брошены. И, действительно, я увидел там всего 2 учителей и класс размером в 140 человек, причем учителя приходили с двухчасовой задержкой.
Затем я исследовал, есть ли что-то подобное в других частях мира. Оказалось, что дешевые частные школы успешно конкурируют с бесплатными государственными в бедных странах.
В Индии работают 300 тысяч дешевых частных школ. В англоязычной части Западной Африки — 80 тысяч. Частные школы распространены и в Китае, правда, они действуют нелегально."
